TSG84 After Actions

I started with two scouts but as they changed into archers I bought three next in Washington. Then I built and bought war chariots and spermen.
After some time, I didn't have what to build in the capital so I finished with ToZ, GL, HG and Stonehenge - a little strange for a quick domination game :D
This game showed how powerful is Egypt when it comes to a quick victory through domination (unlimited war chariots are crazy :))

- Did you use religion or spying to your advantage?

I used happiness bonuses to try and counter happiness issues.

- Did the map type help or hinder victory and how?

The mountain chains hindered movement, but I attacked China and Zulus by landing by troops on the shores, but the Chu-Ku-Nu were too much, so I brokered peace and got Shanghai, and then thirty turns later took Beijing.

- How did the difficulty level affect your game decisions?

Just made me passive at first, and not take advantage of a weak AI.

- Did Egypt's unique traits factor into your Domination game plan? If so, how?

I used the Chariots to take Washington, Carthage, Attila, and Kyoto.

I underrated chariot archer and overrate city bombardment.

When I scouted the map I saw city defense 17 for Carthage and 18 for Ulundi. A lot of turns after, Carthage didn't move and Ulundi was only 20. So, I built too many units and delayed too much my attacks.
Beijing was easiest conquest. Shaka took it after I discover China, so 9 on plains is easy for XB and Pikeman. :(

Religion : Yes tithe and happiness.

Spy : I didn't touch rennaissance.

Map : Never ever for me. I'm not a fan of domination. On this map, it's a pain. On the other side, I had fun to find fast way for my chariot archers. :D

Difficult level : My only fear was great wall in last capital. Japan build it after I took Kyoto. Nice. :D

Egypt : My favourite civ. But it doesn't rocks on the land of kilt and whisky (now I understand why Scottish endure alcohol : up and down, stop and go, you need a good stomach).

I remenber Tabarnak post in announcement : build order, granary, archer, archer, archer... I should have follow his advice.

I wonder if it's a random map or made with a map editor. If it's an editor, thanks for this hard work, you're a Dedale's fan. :goodjob:
If it's random, I hate Firaxis. :D

Turn 186 domination victory.

For this game I felt like a warlord in the dark ages. Warfare, barbarians, and the lack of other strong civilizations contributed to the atmosphere.

The rugged terrain was challenging, but did get old after a while.

Turn 300ish. Way too long, i know. Shame shame shame.

First off, this was my first domination victory, ever. I never go for wars, except for defense, so it was good practice. Some of my mistakes :

- Only making 3 scouts and losing one very early (stuck between mountains and barbs) for this reason the right side of the map stayed unexplored too long and i didn't see that the americans were the easiest to get to.
- Obsessing over findind a way to a carthage on the left side, I wasted a loonnggg time. Then i saw i could get to them quickest through the lake, waiting for the proper tech, then upon getting it realizing i had to bring all my units back to my borders for them to get the right promotion to go through water (yeah yeah *facepalm*)... this wasted. a. long. time. And slowed me down by a bunch since i only made one city until i captured carthage.
- I knew moving would be slow, but i didn't expect the maze of mountains. I should have made more than one army, more scouts, used the free promotion from the natural wonder. And not explore too far but around my visibility border, one scout was explored a random corner of the map behing a maze of moutains for half the game.
- Because of wasting time early, all civs had more than 3 cities by the time i got to them. The zulu were a pain with their cities clogged into a corner, and they had their special unit when i got there. Ouch.
- Overestimated the difficulty by making too many units. I went with my usual melee + siege units (i like to end up with super upgraded arty later, but it is the wrong tactic for this map and difficulty), but in retrospect the cities strength never went too high, i should have made fast moving units like chariots instead it would have been sufficient for the whole game.
- Felt obliged to take every single city and completely wipe every civ, which was a mistake. This was caused by the terrain, i didn't want to have to move back if an AI recovers and attacks, but again i didn't factor in the low difficulty level, i would probably have been just fine taking only capitals.

After finishing this game i created another map on emperor difficulty with about the same settings except the mountains type of map and won at turn 320. Slowly getting more comfortable with warfare. :)
