Proud to be an American!
Welcome to my second SG! TSK 01 was a big success with the talented team of betazed, Rubberjello, OneFastWarrior, Nick014, and myself. After those bloody wars, I feel like something a little... lighter. So here we are! I was inspired by the Discovery Channel program of last night, Resurrecting Nefertiti.

Civ: Nefertiti of the Egyptians
Difficulty: Emperor (though if I get enough requests, I'll bump it down to Monarch)
Map Size: Normal
Land: 30% Continents
Climate: Hot, Arid, Flat (I had to make it Egyptian :D)
Barbs: Restless
Victory Conditions: All on. We're aiming at a Cultural win.
Opponents:
Zulus
Arabs
Ottomans
Carthaginians
Greeks
Romans
(Random)
Patch: OPEN TO DEBATE

If anyone has a good idea for the seventh rival civ, lemme know :).

Variant rules:
The first tech we research in the Middle Ages MUST BE Monotheism.
Historical Basis: Nefertiti and Akhenaten (I think that was his name) threw out the old Egyptian pantheon and mostly replaced it with the previously minor sun god Aten.

When Monotheism is researched, all our previously built temples must be sold off.
Historical Basis: This reflects the discord (read: no happiness bonus) and lack of culture (self-explanatory) created when they instituted the new religious system.

When we reach the Industrial Age, the first tech we research is Medicine.
Historical Basis: Nefertiti's beloved daughter was struck down by plague.

In the Ancient Age, we switch to Monarchy as soon as it's discovered. We do not research or buy Republic until the Middle Ages. Once that is discovered, we switch to Republic. We do not research or buy Democracy until the Industrial Age. Once that is discovered, we swap to it. We may make one switch from Democracy to something else in Modern Times. We may make no other government swaps other than those detailed above.
Historical Basis: Eh, it was cool, and it sounded like something Nefertiti would have done :).

We MUST get Universal Suffrage. Must. If we don't build it ourselves, we must immediately go to war and capture it. If it is destroyed, we must go to war against the civ that destroyed it and obliterate them. If we accidentally destroy it ourselves (autoraze), we lose the game.
Historical Basis: Nefertiti was the first woman pharoah of all time (this in 1300 BC). She would have been interested in this "Suffrage" thing.

Remember, we're aiming for a Cultural win. That will be tricky, as razing our temples destroys their accumulated 1000 year bonus. So don't neglect libraries and Wonders, as they will be more useful in the long run than early temples.

We'll be on a 24/72 got it/play period. Feel free to ask questions about the rules, and if you have a good idea for our seventh rival, TELL ME!!! The game will start once I get back from Canada, August 30th.

You are going to need a lot of war to pull a win out of this on Emporor. You'll need to crush the culture out of everyone and prevent a SpaceShip if you raze all your temples in the Middle Ages. Remeber you need to double the culture of the next nearest civ. On Emporor, they will be way ahead of you in building unless they have half their empire razed.

(Not a signup. Though it sounds like a lot of fun, I have my plate overfull.:()

Darn. I was hoping you would add your mad skillz to the mix ;).
Surgical strikes. That's the idea. Go in, burn the opponent's big culture cities to the ground, retreat. Start wars between giants to slow down tech to give us time to build build build. We're aiming at subtlety, not 30000 Modern Armors landing on the next guy's shores.

Without temples, you will miss out on 2cpt per city for the first 1000 years and 4cpt for the rest of the game.

You will also not be able to build Cathedrals.

Without temples and Cathedrals, your cities will be unhappy 4 people earlier. That means you need lots of luxuries, or trading for lux. It also greatly reduces the effect of the Hospitals that you're forced to learn.

20K or 100K? It's going to be a rough go either way.

I THINK the Great Pickle means that all temples must be razed (to simulate the eradication of the old religions), but he said nothing about rebuilding them right away again. That way, temples and Cathedrals can be built and a cultural victory is still possible ableit your point about the ancient "doubling" of cutural points is still valid and would be a considerable hit.

P.S. intetesting concept, but I can't join also due to too many commitments.

Rubberjello is right. You're allowed to rebuild them afterwards (c'mon, it's only twenty shields!) and it would be fairly stupid if you don't.
P.S. Gah, another good player too busy!? Oh well. If the situation changes, let me know :).

EDIT: I'm The Great Pickle now?

c'mon, someone has to be interested in this game!

If I was not so busy with gotm, a TDG and an SG, I would(I love the Egyptians). Not only that I have my fantasy football league starting up this weekend(I have been running it for 13 years.) So, too much going on for me :(

Anyway it seems that it would be a fun game, I hope ya get some players in. I will at least be checking how your game goes.

Good luck.
