[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

Update available on CFC Database or Steam Workshop.

v.22 (Jul 20, 2013)
- Move Babylon 2 tiles south on the Giant Earth to allow Assyria to settle it's first city.
- Fix the number of resources placed on the map when playing with no city-states
- Fix the maximum possible number of CS shown on the setup screen (to reflect the change from the 28, 34, or 43 civs DLL)
- Add djvandyke's "Greatest Earth Map" with realistic resource placement (but not the "add major deposit" option yet)
- Add TSL for BNW Civs on the Huge Earth Map thanks to Montijin
- Add TSL for all Civs and CS on djvandyke's "Greatest Earth Map" thanks to Al-Iskander
- Add a lake near Aztec TSL on the Giant Earth map
- Change the "No US" option to "Only native American" option (remove USA and Brazil from the game)

v.21 (Jul 08, 2013)
- Added Starting Positions for Brave New World Civilizations and City-States on Giant Earth and Large Europe maps.
- Bugfix: make Spain selectable when using a resolution height of 768 pixels or less
- Small edit on Australia for the Giant Earth map
- Add Neva river on the Giant Earth map
- Add Kilimandjaro and Lake Victoria position on the Giant Earth map

I only play huge map and these coordinates are based on 'reasonable' start locations as South America and Africa are a bit rough when it comes to start locations.

hey, i am using the updated version 22, notished that with the additional minors mod you godt, a game on giant map, could start 62 minor states, but now its Down to max 41?

also prague is too close to austria start, it just sits there, this is still on giant map!

update on this,
found milan settler just standing there, because Monaco and geneva had setup their cities, so was why to close to them.

i am playing with the miminum distance setting for these minors

You were never able to start with 62 City-States, it was a display error that has been fixed now.

You have to change your actual setting for CS placement so that Prague is removed if Austria is in the game.

Post your Lua log please.

Ancient ruins are randomly placed, you'll find no more or less than in a game using one of the original mapscripts.

Really? Theres so many. like 25+ in just eastern europe. Ive never seen so many by an order of magnitude nearly.

Thats not normal

Really.

But it could be related with regions where there are not a lot of starting position.

in "Another History" sea tiles won't be owned. Still need to test the replacement mechanism for sea resources before implemting it. Depending of it's level of complexity, it may be released as a standalone mod...
Surely you can make sea tiles that have a resource on them able to be claimed while free sea tiles can't?

I will handle resources very differently in that mod...

Have you added Kilimandjaro and Lake Victoria to the Huge map? If not, I'd greatly appreciate it. If so, you might want to add it to the log.

I don't remember if I have :o

I'll check the next time I'll open the mod.

I have built Petra in BNW game and it doesn't give a bonus on a my desert hills. I haven't seen any other mention of this. Is this an intentional nerf?

Edit: My mistake. The hills surrounding Babylon on the Huge map are mostly on plains -- I didn't realize.

@Glassmage: is it broken ?

I just saw this comment from you Gedemon and it made me a very happy camper. :D I earlier started a thread (that got no responses) in the modding forum, about this exact issue. It seems to me that no civ should own more than the sea tile directly next to their land border. Influence does not go out to deep ocean IRL, navies exist to do that. And, as noted, it makes for strange results in places like the English Channel and many others, where one civ can bodily block everyone from having access to a major body of water. I know that there are a few examples of this IRL, but not as many as we see in Civ V maps by default. I very much look forward to your mod if it addresses this issue. :king::goodjob:

When I use any of the earth maps I get some graphical issues. First I wasn't sure it has anything to do with some mods, but it only occurs when I use a custom map. If I download Veneke's large earth map from another link (not using yanemp) the same happens. So its no a specific problem of Yanemp but rather of some maps.
Posted 2 screenhots to show the problem ... any idea what causes this and how to fix it?
