[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

Dunno where to put this.

Is this intentional? I am playing as Inca and should not have the MOAI. Am just playing with Ynaemp + HSD + Rev + CivIVDiplo and whowards UI mods
yacomohr.jpg

Another thing: I don't get any techs when I started the game, only after a while (1 new research per turn). Is this also intentional?

Gedemon I recently ran into this problem where the images for icons of civ/tech/specialist/policies get corrupted, instead of the pictures you get weird gray or black on red colors pattern. The icons still work if you click on them. Restart the game fix this but it comes back randomly.

The Moai thing is not intentionnal, I'll have to check that (and have absolutely no ideas of what may cause it)

"Isolated" civs (new world, Polynesia, ...) don't get free tech, only the research bonus that give you 1 tech/turn for a few turns. It can be changed in HSD sql file.

try to un-check "GPU Texture Decode" (or something looking like that) in civ5 video options.

The last game I played was with Kamehameha, so maybe it's something with the cache? I have no idea. I will try to load another game with the Inca.

Any idea what could be causing dupe civs? When playing on huge earth I always end up with dupes of the same civ. Two England players, two Sweden players, two Germany players, etc.

Using Gods & Kings with all of the DLC, everything is up to date.

Duplicate civs are used when you select more players than available TSL for a map.

To check the number of available civs for a map, count the listed civs in the dropdown menu (easier to to that with the 1st player slot)

It's definitively a problem with one of my mods, I've just seen polders where there shouldn't be, but I don't know where to start searching...

I'm trying to get Canada in here but having some troubles. I added the start location for Canada to the XML but when I select custom game they don't appear in the list of selectable civs? Does the custom menu not detect other active mods? If I set up a game normally Canada appears but you have to use custom game option to get the TSL? Do I have to merge the Canada mod in here somehow?

The description tags are matching ?

No need to merge, the menu use the Civilizations table as a reference.

Also check that you've added the position in the correct map section.

It's a 22 player game on Huge Earth, plenty more than 22 civs are available in the dropdown.

Post your lua.log after starting a game with duplicate civs please.

Gedemon, thanks for compiling these maps and scripting.

For running a 26-civ (added Mongols via CivilizationsStartPos.xml) Large Europe map with TSL scenario, I'm trying to be selective about which city states spawn via TSL, and I'm failing. For that kind of scenario, I've made a copy of the MinorCivStartPos.xml and simply deleted the rows for CS that start too close to capitals, like Antwerp, or to other CS that I want to keep. Trying to only feed good choices to the script. However, while I have around 14 CS left in that modified xml and set the slider to 14 when setting up the game, I'll get maybe half that spawn, often fewer.

Any idea what could be going on?

Problem is that the game will randomly pick CS in the DB when you launch the map, and then the mod keep only those that have a TSL.

In your case, the game is launched with 20 random CS (63 player slots - 43 reserved for major by the DLL), then the mod keep only those that have a TSL on the map in that 20. But it can be 20 CS from other parts of the world.

Another problem is that ATM, if you remove to many CS to reduce the random factor, the DLL will crash (but whoward is progressing on that), so you have to keep some.

You can use the "Only Europe CS for BNW" mod that will reduce the total number of CS, while staying above the crashing limit.

Well that's enlightening. So a better choice for the Euro map would be the 28 civs DLL; anything else is wasteful, sounds like.

Loading up some games, looks like that 28 DLL is giving me much better results. Good enough that the Venice/Austria/Greece area gets some CS to play with usually.

Now, I can't get that "Only Europe CS for BNW" to work, however, even reverting back to unmodded XMLs. I crash on creating the game with 25 civs selected on 28- 34- and 43- civ DLLs & only TSL CS placement. Also I crash with 28- civ DLL and only TSL, mixed, and random CS placement.

The Europe CS thing does work for me with no +max civ DLL selected; I guess that's the technical limitation Whoward is trying to overcome.

Why is it that some rivers only "show" on one side of the tile? I have seen this a while back on the Nile Delta (don't know if it still happens there with this version of the map) and recently with the river that is west of Warsaw's TSL, on the eastern coast tile. Does it have to do with some glitch related to edited maps? And it even affects movement; if you cross the river from the side where the river tooltip doesn't show, there is no movement penalty (from the river, anyway).

in "Another History" sea tiles won't be owned. Still need to test the replacement mechanism for sea resources before implemting it. Depending of it's level of complexity, it may be released as a standalone mod...
Have you made any progress on this as of now? :D

nop. but *soon*. more or less.

Question: has the huge earth map been updated with BNW civs and natural wonders? I'm planning to start a game up soon with it.
Also, i have two suggestions for that map: replace a mountain with a lake at the Aztec starting location (for floating gardens) and put a river each on Java, Sumatra and Borneo for gameplay reasons (ie make Candis available for Indonesia)
