No, I didn't jump a turn....just correcting a previous mistake(two consectutive Turn 166 threads).

City of Columbus Razed!

The CGN city of Columbus is no more. Wheteher this city was abandonedby CGN or razed by their enemy is unclear. I am hoping to find some answers in an upcoming chat with CGN and Apolyton, the time of which we are still trying to work out.

In our own neck of the woods, we have just about cornered the GCA spear. It will be interesting to see if Lucky keeps it around or disbands it.

With the upcoming three nation chat I would like to say that we need a solid front about CGN. We need to decide soon if we are going to come to CGN's aid once we have the units and the techs to cross the western pond.

Yes, I apologize for not helping to build national solidarity prior to this chat. What with the server down and my own RL, I haven't been the best President of late.

I will be sifting through the recent chats and will post my thoughts soon. And I am very grateful to all who attended in my absence. :)

Here is a continuation of the Turn Update, since the server didn't allow me to complete it earlier.

FP Courthouse Gamble Mostly Lateral Move

As you can see here, the new Courthouse in Xin Yun Feng only added two shields to our production, cutting build time to 29 turns.

When you factor in the 3 turns spent building up shields for the Courthouse, we shaved our FP deadline by only 6 turns. So while it was somewhat helpful, I am wondering if doing so was worth the 204g rush expense.

Here's the screenie:

The good news is that a Settler push is now imminent. Judging by yesterday's chat, it seems that there are several citizens that believe I haven't done enough to claim our unincorporated land.

That said, I feel must publicly defend my reasoning yet again.

We are currently enjoying 85 gpt simply due to the fact that we have extra population added to cities that have a Marketplace; cities that would have taken 5-10 times as long to gain this extra pop themselves. In some cases, extra pop was added to cities to increase production in anticipation of those Marketplaces.

This in itself has put us in a status of extreme surplus for the first time since I have been here. A surplus so surprising in fact, that I way quite dismayed to find this information divulged in chat. It not only makes us look untrustworthy(as Poly will wonder why we didn't increase our turnly gpt), but will also force us to give more of this gpt away, something I wasn't planning to do just yet.

But this is besides the point.

Secondly, my goal was to begin development of some FP ring cities around 20-25 turns from completion of the FP. As we are now 29 turns away, with one Settler on the way and another due in 5 turns(from Xiang Zhou), we are right on schedule.

My hope is that the cities founded by these two Settlers will complete the rest of the FP-region development stage, leaving our core cities to work on more important things, like Riders.

Let me know if you agree with this process. I thought that we were all on the same page, but then I find people publicly expressing dissatisfaction in my plans. To our allies and friends in the international community, no less.

So feel free to voice your concerns now, in our private forum. If we plan to have a snowball's chance in this game, we need to present a unified front to our allies and friends, as well as enemies. I apologize if I have not done enough to provide a clear enough vision that the nation can rally behind.

Respectfully,

Donovan Zoi

That is if you are reelected ;)

I like your FP thing but I fear that our northern cities will face curruption when they are built. Do you think we should bump the Palace up to deal with that?

Hmm, GCA is still kicking around our Swordsmen?

Hmm, I think we should not attack the spear since by the looks of it, its a Vet or an Elite Spear (Cant tell with the quality of the screenshot) and sitting on a jungle terrain.

I have to agree with DZ on the chat. Our team need a lot more disipline during chats! We have to discuss and decide what information should be told to the other teams! And sadly the examples I'll post now is not the only the, and this chat was not unique.
"Half of our government forgets that their in the government all the time, soi it is a little different over here"
"yeah our team is sort of an Ad Hoc, lazy team who has a constitution and it slows us down because of it. Hence why, with such great starting terrain we did so poorly"
"well, we make more money than we give you"
"our team leader right now is fairly against expansion"
"dude, you can't cordinate with CFC. We are like a big convoluted, understaffed beauracracy ;) I'm probably not supposed to say it but in case you are frustrated with our lack of cohesion this is why"
While Apolyton on the other hand is a lot more disiplined:
"<[APO]Togas> If CGN doesn't mind waiting, we're fiercly debating the loan issue as we speak :)"
I would like this time to mentino that the people I have quoted also contributed with a lot of smart things to say, but the fact is that there were some things spoken that should be left out.

We really need some disipline here!

Well, Cheetah, sorry you weren't there straighten things out  Seriously, I can't present a formal message and disciplined when I'm the only one really respresenting our team

But please excuse me in that I didn't know that our finances are such a secret to our ally. I would figure that they would assume we make more than we give them, so we can rush improvements and whatnot.

Donovan, the reason I went on about the settlers with them really made sense to me when they pointed out that they could land a settler on our land with relative ease. Think about it, a GWT city on our side? I mean, there's a reason we settled that western island.. its the same as why we should be settling north.

Truth hurts Cheetah (I'm sorry to say this)? Face it our team is small. People can't commit to this team. I don't know why, since we are one of the larger sites, but the talk wasn't the problem, it's the participation. DZ is doing fine, and I really don't have anything against what he is doing. In my experience this team needs a huge pick me up, since we aren't doing jack to be honest with you. Maybe its because, we are losing and horribly, but what was said in chat is basically how it is, admit one or two of the lines.

I admit I said line A and for a good reason, too. For the four terms I worked in this government as the Foreign Minister, I must say I put up with several do-nothing officials. I also had to put up with people overstepping bounds as well. This team is so small and disorganized, it gives me a headache.

Bottom line, this game is a game hence should be fun whether we win or lose. Lets try to get a second wind and try to enjoy playing the rest of the game. Let's cooperate instead of pulling off what happened in the single player demogame.

Agreed. I know that there are only a few people active on our team, but those people generaly do a very good job. It's just in some chats we tend to talk to much. We should be able to fix that.
Well, Cheetah, sorry you weren't there straighten things out
Acctualy I were, but fell asleep about two hours into the chat as it was 6 in the morning here. :p

All I'm saying is that we should think a little more about what we show and tell to the rest of the world.

CGN has a city named Tampere? Cool...

Not so good, sems like GWT is on the upper hand..:undecide:

Amen! We need to have more people run for more positions. DZ won without opposition, and that is not right. We need to have more of a choice. If we are happy with our presadent we will rally under him, thus making a better nation and team. Number of players do not matter as much as unity does.

Hey Ankka, what does Tampere mean, and what language is it?

I may not have made this clear anough, and for that I am sorry. In the initial stages when we were first talking about our upcoming markets(the very first ones), Poly was pressing for more like 50-60 gpt, but I got them to settle for 40. Then ,we had increased our gpt to such an extent in such a short time, that I really didn't feel the need to increase our turnly stipend just yet because I felt that such an increase could have gone undetected for a bit longer.

I am not angry with you for what you said, Hygro, especially since I didn't have the time to set guidelines before the chat. But please be more careful in the future.

Without Navigation, a GWT settlement threat is quite doubtful, especially when they have their hands full in the West. My FP plans have been timed so that we are not optimizing cities until our FP is at hand, and yet so we make sure to claim most of our land before we have to endure any settlement threat from the west(ie before they get Navigation).

Keep in mind too that the larger an area, the more military resources it will take to protect it. Because of our tiny military, I have taken many precautions to ensure that we do not spread ourselves too thin.

To me, this calls into question your statement that I am "against expansion," although I will happily admit to being "against (premature) expansion." ;)

We will claim these lands in due time, and will do so without hindering the potential of our established cities.

We're a small nation. In my view our goals currently are (in this order):
- survive as long as possible;
- become a cash cow for Poly to give them reason to support us;
- build small army to be able to use for short time war (10-20 fast attack units);
- win the game in an alliance with Poly.

With this in mind, DZ is doing a pretty good job and we need to have citizens more involved if we want more to be done.

I don't rthink it really means anything, it's just a city in Finland...
