Turn Discussion Thread

He's not talking down to anyone he's just saying what he thinks in an abrupt, direct, overconfident and slightly arrogant way. He's like that with everyone, it's just his (online) personality, there's no need to take it personally. It makes him quite easy to deal with once you're used to it because you don't have to wonder about what he's 'really' thinking, he'll just tell you (even if he is a little light on the reasoning behind it). I hope I'm being fair here Azzaman?

Similarly if I whine, or explain something in too much detail and end up sounding condescending don't take that personally either, it's just the way I come out on forums (ok so maybe I whine a lot in real life too).

So keep taking initiative as long as you're careful about it, and definately keep asking questions. It's tough being the turn player because getting it right is taken for granted and otherwise there's just a whole lot of ways to do things wrong.

I keep forgetting which warrior is Pallas and which is Vesta, but I think they should both just be fortified in place now unless they see something.

I like that barb city -- it's on a great location. Now if only we had a military to capture it with...

Similarly, do we need to 'claim' it with AMAZON? Tell them of our intentions. I'm worried they may think it's fair game because we're focused on Bode right now.

Actually from what I read of the Micro thread it seemed Iron Mine was expected to be finished next turn. You know when I take initiative I get talked down to, when I ask questions I get talked down to. IS there any wining with you? I mean maybe someone wants to argue to work the FP and grow the city, I'm making sure everyone gets their opinion in. Please leave snips and barbs for another thread Azzaman.

It's slower to grow working the flood plain than the iron mine. Fish asap is more important.

Pretty much. It's also why I'd make a terrible diplomat :p

Was just making sure people had a chance to chime in on what happens in each turn.

So do we want to build up forces to take the Barb city?

I like that barb city too. I think we must build a small army to take it. We also can ask our ETTT partners to research Construction soon.

I think we can go for Paper after CS, but not complete it, so we're not forced to trade it.
We must decide what tech we can get from Lib, then break all the pacts.

After the stone location on Bode i think we must settle on Andromeda for horses and banana.
Then we can settle our last city in our home island.
We'll inform Amazon to avoid they claim that city first.

I noticed there's a lack of mid term - not mentioning long term - planning.
We must decide when it's time to break with the 2 newest partners on the ETTT. We already have a date for Amazon, let's try to see where we can arrive tech-wise by then. Of course we must involve Amazon in this decision, but we need a plan to discuss.

We have had some Long term plans, the problem is we have to keep it adaptable and that Barb city is exactly what I mean. We were going to spam Settlers for that area and now we can focus and change our plan to military units, which we really do need.

Sure, we did. I'm sayin' we don't now.

i.e. we have a NAP with Amazon until 1000 AD. We're now in 1800 BC and we're few turns away from maces and Astro will surely been researched in the BCs at this pace.

Our plans was about where to settle before we discovered Bode, before the ETTT was enlarged to 4 and before many events.

It's now time to not only plan where to settle, what to build and so on, but mainly to try to get a picture of our relations, the benefits and risks involved in those alliances, when to break them (not necessarily in terms of time, but of tech researched).

My opinion is that if 4 teams will all have the same techs we can't gain the edge given by our financial trait. In other words, it's nice to have a lot of techs now, but what about we'll find ourselves fighting against the same units we can field?

Just remember the Highlander motto: Only one will remain (sorry i don't know the right words, just the sense). And this is the case.

I should have asked this last turn but would we like to do reconnasance on the Barb city with the Galley? The Gally takes two turns to cross the canal. I thnk the boat will be back in time to put the settler on it but not move towards Andromeda which would delay Vega a turn.

Why? What use does it have?

Well it's a city I believe were thinking of taking once we have enough troops and it be good to know when it has reached it's level two at least. I know it's not critical to know right now as our cities are building other things. I just thought I'd ask.

We know its exact position, and by the time we want to capture it it'll almost certainly be at least size 2 anyway.

Also, the galley cannot view the city and get to the optimal loading point in time (we're not even waiting there as it is)

Arcturus is now working the Pig Hill instead of the Clam, archer will be finished this turn instead and no delay on CS. We now have the demographics of Quatronia.

Also, if we settled Y, we would have a channel to Mavericks pre-Astro. I don't think we want that yet as they would likely view us as the greatest threat should that happen.

So if we could trade with Mavericks, which is a theory I thought we already had discussed but didn't explore, we could do the same with Amazons. I also saw CDZ and Quatronia culture borders touching each other so they may be trading resources themselves using the mainland.

If you want to make a Turn Tracking post Azzaman feel free to.

I 've looked in the game and have to wonder.
Why didn't the boat not the CDZ-Town? This is a lost of info for nothing.

I agree with moving a citizen to work the pigs, but I'd be inclined to now switch the copper to the clams, just on the principle that food > hammers. Especially now that we've got the whip online. There's no barbs knocking at the door so I don't see the rush getting the archer out, and I'd expect we'll have more production in the long term working the food.

I'll be posting the turns in the Turn Tracker but I wanted to address this issue here:

Another barb has shown up next to Vesta, the Archer will be completed in Arcturus in two turns more then enough in case Vesta falls. Just wanted to ask if we should promote Vesta to insure her survival.
