Turn Discussion Thread

I partialy played a few moves, mostly fortifying Ceres where he is now. Pallas moved to the hill as I saw discussed. The Galley (renamed Enterprise) has not moved. Voyager I moved 1s and found merlot's Galley, now it can move 1s or 1sw, I realise more land will be shown going diagonal but I wondered if we wanted more of Merlot's culture area shown to us.

I also wanted to reiterate that we could put our EP points on Merlot to find out more about them.

Assuming that 4 way alliance goes through, as it appears it will, we probably won't be the ones fighting Merlot, so we don't really need espionage against them. However the Amazons have already redirected their espionage away from us, so it is probably a good idea to reciprocate. We can switch our espionage to the Mavericks when we meet them.

I agree with grant regarding the espionage.

AlphaShard, do you have a screen shot of Voyager's current position? We are currently discussing where to send Voyager with the AMAZONS, so let's not finish it's move yet. Did Pallas (the warrior on the south island, I think) see anything interesting when he moved onto the hill?

I will get screen caps up later but Pallas found forested hills. Vesta has not moved didn't know if we were going to or not. Voyager can go 1sw.

[nitpick]

That would be 'she' :p

The asteroid is named after the Greek goddess Athena, who is occasionally given the epithet 'Pallas'.

[/nitpick]

I just couldn't help noticing :D

I think Vesta (the warrior on Andromeda, for those keeping score at home), should move either 1E into the forested tile or 1SE into the jungle. That way she (;))* ends her turn on a protected tile, and reveals more of the map.

Enterprise should continue to follow the channel to the SW for as long as she can. Remember that she has to head back to Sirius on turn 56.

*I noticed all the asteroids were named after Greek goddesses when the nomenclature was originally proposed, but reverted to the male personal pronoun out of laziness. My apologies to our female team members. :)

My vote is Vesta 1SE into jungle, Pallas 1SW into jungle, and Enterprise into the channel.

We should name the other landmass too. "Bode's Galaxy" is the next in the list, so I'm thinking "Bode" for the star-point to the SW of Sol (the one Pallas is on). Actually we can probably guess there's going to be 6 star points and 6 home islands, and name all of them. I could even imagine a diagram with all of them on it. There's possibly another landmass in the centre of it all too.

I'm curious about whether we live on a flat or round earth. Maybe it's round, but there's a lot of ocean to traverse to go around it?

Thanks! I'll agree with with Irgy's suggested moves, as well.

Also, don't forget the micro plan calls for Canopus to switch to working 1 fish and the gold for this turn.

I just logged in to check how much time was left, we've got 6 and a half hours as of now. I agree with the proposed moves as well, but I didn't go ahead and make them because I'm still having issues with screenshots not wanting to work properly and wouldn't be able to write a proper turn report. The Amazons gave us Meditation, so I did accept that, in addition I noticed that the Merlot galley unloaded a warrior on the island between them and the Amazons.

I'll check back in closer to the turn's end time to make sure someone has completed the moves and filed a report, if nobody has I'll do my best with a verbal turn report. It's been an unusual turn with all of the server outages.

AlphaShard was playing this turn. I can take screenshots, so if he hasn't finished the turn in a couple of hours I'll finish it up during my lunch break and file a report.

I am at work currently will be out in 2 -1/2 hours.

I think we (well Grant and I) agreed on the moves you proposed: Vesta 1SE into jungle, Pallas 1SW into jungle, and Enterprise into the channel. AlphaShard started the turn, and took screenshots, so we'll let him finish and report. Regardless, Mavericks still haven't finished their turn yet.

But the question is, would Mavericks have finished their turn by now if they weren't thinking "Oh well there's no rush, Sirius hasn't finished their turn yet anyway"?

On the whole I think once it's down to about 8 hours we should really make the move unless there's active debate on something.

I'm not saying I think it's a big deal mind you, just stating my opinion because I like the look of my own text really :)

Yeah I understand that, and agree with you Irgy. I wanted to defer doing the moves to somebody else because I can't do a proper report, and figure it would be better if someone who could performed the moves. I'm guessing Trystero's reason was that Alphashard started the moves, and therfore was given first dibs at finishing them. I wouldn't worry about that in the future, I think we can all agree that getting the moves done is more important than that, as long as it doesn't complicate the report.

In the interests of getting the next turn finished quickly, where should everybody go next? I'd say the western warrior should move SW onto the jungle hill, the galley should follow the channel S trying to reveal as much coast as possible, and the eastern warrior should keep walking SE. Does anyone see a better plan?

I would prefer to play moves more quickly, but I also would like to give others a chance to participate. I felt it would be presumptuous of me to finish AlphaShard's turn for him. Also, there have been a few recent turns where we were waiting for diplomacy, so I can understand AS not rushing to end the turn. I can also imagine playing a turn quickly only to have someone say "wait, wait... we are waiting for X" Regardless, it's not like we are consistently holding up the game.

I'm inclined to agree with Grant's proposal sight unseen, but I will take a look at the save, and get back to you.

I hate being annoying like this, but i just wanted to point out that enterprise is not correctly named. Enterprise would have been the name of the first warship, troop transports take the names of human spaceflights. So it should've been "Vostok" :)
