Turn 172 - 1120AD
It's showtime!
D-Day is upon us ...
But first ...
a message from our sponsers ...
*****************************
Our Warrior gets a look at Innovia's newest city:
They have just renamed the city from the very obvious "CowCanal" to its current Weaverville. The city has about 8 more turns before the borders pop and they can hook up the horses.
This image will also be sent to Epsilon.
Since they felt the need for a canal city, I would speculate that they intend to produce boats in their northern cities.
*****************************
No tech trading, from what I can discern, this past turn. Loco and Innovia are the only two lacking Military Tradition. Is Innovia researching it currently? Their newest city tells us they intend to be in possession of MT in the near future.
It looks like Aloha may have dialed down research. They are accumulating 63gpt, which should correspond to about 20% on the research slider.
*****************************
And now, without further ado ....
The assault on Kia Ora will be accomplished with 2 Galleons loaded with 2 Cavalry, a Maceman, and 3 Catapults. And the force was stopped, dead in its tracks, by an Aloha Galley. The Galley occupies the only available tile that allows our invasion.
The Galleon carrying our Catapults sinks Aloha's Galley. And at this point we are able to get a look at the defenses of Kia Ora.
Our Cavalryman loses 1/3
rd of his health taking out Aloha's Axeman. Our CRIII Maceman is able to dispatch the Warrior without a scratch, though. And the city is ours ...
Our troops celebrate the victory on the beaches of Kia Ora. A campfire is built, marshmellows are roasted, they are singing Kum-bye-yah ..... Well, Ok ... maybe it was more like a bonfire, built by some wasted cat operators. There was lootin' and pillagin' and all of the women got raped. Two Aloha Workers were discovered in the cargo hold of one of our Galleons. Don't know if they were raped -- don't want to know. The bonfire eventually gets out of hand ... and then all of a sudden the city catches on fire. The blaze that night could be seen as far away as Twaddle and Hamburger. The next morning, there was nothing left of what once was Kia Ora.
The 2 enslaved Workers will be returned to Chappaquiddick. Our forces will then meet up on the voyage to Aloha's capital.
*****************************
All Galleons, save one, were given Combat I promotions. One Galleon, the one with the 2 Workers, was constructed before the switch to Theocracy and thus has no experience. This one is the most vulnerable to a lucky RNG roll. Next turn, once all of the ships are consolidated into a single stack, it will be much more difficult for Aloha to sink a ship based upon a lucky RNG roll.
A new Galleon is being built in Brilliant for Aloha's stray Galley.
*****************************
It got kind of lost in all of the war photos, but our Axeman in Chappaquiddick had to step out of the city to whack a barb Warrior.
It is probably not an issue this time, but the city is being defended by a couple of Spearmen at this point.
*****************************
Balderdash -> The city has grown to its size 13 happiness cap.
Hamburger -> We have enough overflow to begin producing 2-turn Cavalry. But I can MM the city for max cash (this turn only) and still not delay our next cav. And hopefully I won't forget to put it all back next turn.
Treacle Cottage -> This city trains its first Cavalry. I MM the city to where it is no longer starving. In my notes I had written that the city could be MM'ed for 5-turn Cavalry. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to get better than 6-turn.
Brilliant -> The city starts a Galleon. It will get

in a couple of turns.
Twaddle -> No changes. A Catapult is due next turn.
Leonidas -> No changes.
Chappaquiddick -> No changes.
Phooey -> No changes.
Zapotec -> No changes.
*****************************
Epsilon's capital has grown to size 17 this past turn.
