Turnplay Log

If Aloha gets Galleons, they can move from Allegra to our lands in one turn (correct?). Does this mean we need to burn Allegra?
Correct. However, I'm more concerned about them sinking our fleet of Cavalry (loaded onto Galleons) off the coast of their capital.

Turn 179 - 1190AD

8th Turn of the Aloha War

No change in war weariness. (+1:mad: in cities > 10 pop)

*****************************

Mostly good news this turn. At least, in so far as nothing is good news. Aloha has not gained any new techs. And, in fact, it does not appear that any tech trading took place at all this past turn.

Epsilon, however, has completed research of Chemistry. As soon as they send that over, we will be in a position to start turning out Frigates.

*****************************

Once again, it appears that Aloha is confining the use of the whip to their capital. It has lost a point of pop, while 2 other cities have grown this past turn. This would correspond to the 3 point increase in their score.

mtdg1190adwhipshotoz4.jpg

*****************************

Our boats in Pearl Harbor decide to stay put for some necessary repairs. Fortunately, a medic is on board one of the boats. We are also afforded a look at the defenses of their capital.

mtdg1190adalohaem1.jpg

Two Musketmen have arrived since last turn. I would speculate that 1 of them was whipped. Frankly, I'd rather have them whipping muskets than Cossacks.

*****************************

In other news, Innovia has an undefended city being threatened by a barb Warrior. Not sure of the etiquette regarding whacking a bard in another civ's territory, so I decide to leave it alone. Their Catapult will arrive in time to defend the city.

mtdg1190admagadanmi1.jpg

Meanwhile, Loco has put down a new city called "New B and O", presumably on the site of the old city. Our Caravel should be able to snap a photo of it next turn.

*****************************

Balderdash -> Rounding has given us an extra hammer to play with, so I move a citizen onto a cottage for a turn.

Hamburger -> No changes. The city is turning out 1-turn Pikemen.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes.

Brilliant -> No changes. The city has +5 whip anger and 43 turns to work it off.

Twaddle -> I'd like to save the overflow for a Frigate. I set the city to building wealth and MM the citizens for commerce.

Leonidas -> No changes.

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. Our Workers have completed clearing the jungle around the ivory. Next up is to get the city's only hill mined. Will also need to crack the whip in 4 turns.

Phooey -> No changes.

Zapotec -> The Granary is :whipped: for 1 pop.

*****************************

Hamburger celebrates "We Love the Monarch Day!"

And unless I'm mistaken, Congratulations go out to Killercane!

And unless I'm mistaken, Congratulations go out to Killercane!
Thanks buddy. I kicked and screamed but they got me down the aisle anyways!

 way to fight!! I have determined that men are allergic to women as most men start swelling up after they get married. I've swollen quite a bit around my waist...

zachary :p

Turn 180 - 1200AD

9th Turn of the Aloha War

No change in war weariness. (+1:mad: in cities > 10 pop)

*****************************

Aloha has acquired Astronomy. I have no clue why they decided to wait a turn to do the trade. Did they really expect that one extra turn would make us believe they didn't trade MT for Astronomy?

I'm guessing they will soon whip out a Galleon to come after our fleet stationed in Pearl Harbor. Fortunately, our friends in Epsilon sent over just the cure ...

MTDG_1200AD_EpsilonTrade.jpg

We may have to pull our forces back a bit, but our first Frigate should set sail in a couple of turns.

*****************************

This past turn, Aloha has expanded the use of their whip. They whipped another musket in their capital for 2 pop. Meanwhile, something was whipped in the city of Hello, also for 2 pop.

mtdg1200adwhipshotpy2.jpg

An analysis of their score indicates that the whip was probably cracked in at least one other city this past turn.

*****************************

Our boats continue their vigil in Pearl Harbor. The defenses of the capital have expanded by 2 more units. A whipped Musketman and another Cossack. Presumably that is the same Cossack that they pulled out a few turns back.

mtdg1200adalohaow9.jpg

I would not be surprised to see another Cossack arrive from the city of Hello this next turn.

*****************************

The barb outside of Innovia's undefended city suicided against our Warrior. Not sure how the Innovians feel about losing the 1xp ...

Meanwhile, we have barb issues of our own outside of Zapotec. Last turn, I pulled the Axeman out of the city to defend our Worker from that barb Warrior. Now a barb Swordsman has shown up to the party.

mtdg1200adbarbszt9.jpg

I send the Workers scurrying and pull the Axeman back to defend the city.

*****************************

Balderdash -> Having completed a Pikeman, the city resumes Cavalry training.

Hamburger -> No changes. The city is turning out 1-turn Pikemen.

Treacle Cottage -> With the advent of Chemistry, a citizen is moved from a plains forest to a plains cottage. A Pikeman is due next turn.

Brilliant -> Catapult contruction is put on hold in favor of a Frigate. The city has +5 whip anger and 42 turns to work it off. The Frigate should be :whipped: in 4 turns.

Twaddle -> The city begins construction of a Frigate. The city is MM'ed for hammers so that it can be :whipped: next turn. The city has +3 whip anger and 28 turns to work it off.

Leonidas -> The construction of a couple of workshops, just in time for Chemistry, is paying off in this city. Now if we could just get some irrigation going!

Chappaquiddick -> No changes. The Courthouse can be :whipped: in 2 turns.

Phooey -> No changes.

Zapotec -> This city is still pretty worthless until it gets some growth. The :whipped: Granary should help that out. The city begins a Library to take advantage of all the wine in this city. :hmm: That doesn't sound right ... should be a University!

*****************************

Our Caravel gets a look at Loco's newest city: New B and O. It is a size 1 city in the exact same spot as the old city. I sent Epsilon an updated map so that it will show up on their screen.

OK it seems things get really interesting from here.

OT Conga rats to "Cane! I'll give you my rules of what not to do later. :D

how could they keep whipping and not have that whip unhappiness catch up to them? I understand that they could grow pretty quick, but the :( should accumulate correct?

We obviously scared them, and they've whipped themselves to a precipice, imho. Surely they can't do much more? It would be nice to have a couple of disposable horse/pike teams just running around in their lands pillaging and trying to draw them out so we can pick them off. They must be stretched (apart from the capital).

They built the Globe Theatre in their capital. Basically what they've done is to combine HE and the bureau bonus with the globe to create a whipping powerhouse. It is a novel approach that I'd not considered before. Although, I still think that I prefer to combine the HE with West Point.

It would be nice to have a couple of disposable horse/pike teams just running around in their lands pillaging and trying to draw them out so we can pick them off.
Our first boatload of pikes will be visible to Aloha next turn. They will land on Aloha soil in 2 turns. I'm thinking of one of those hills outside their capital to pick up the 25% hill bonus.

Turn 181 - 1210AD

10th Turn of the Aloha War

No change in war weariness. (+1:mad: in cities > 10 pop)

*****************************

More trades to report! This time between Loco and Innovia. Innovia picks up Printing Press while Loco gets Astronomy. My how these two have gotten cosy since ending their war. Check out the list of resource deals between these two ...

mtdg1210adalliancelq3.jpg

Will we see Aloha and Innovia trading next turn? Or will they wait a turn like they did with their last trade? Either way, it is now inarguably clear that these three are working together.

*****************************

Limited use of the whip, this past turn, by Aloha. In fact the only sign of whipping is their capital remains at size 3. Based upon the 3 point increase in their score, they did manage to add 1 pop, though, in one of the cities under the fog.

mtdg1210adwhipshotwo7.jpg

*****************************

Thanks go out to Epsilon for the intel photograph. Now we know that our sneak attack on Privet has a zero % chance of surprising Aloha!

mtdg1210adintelff8.jpg

Unfortunately, our boats are too far north to turn around at this point. Otherwise we could go back and pick up some pikes. As it stands, we are just going to have to slog our way through ...

*****************************

The defenses of the capital have, once again, expanded by 2 more units. The whipped Cossack from Hello arrives, as well as a Catapult that was whipped here in their capital.

mtdg1210adalohamy8.jpg

But why whip a Catapult? It is totaly useless in defending against an amphibious assault. Ahhh ... But what if your opponent was planning on landing some Pikemen? A Catapult would be exactly what you would need to repel that invasion!

I must be the absolute worst MP player! Aloha has managed to anticipate my every move. Every single one! :shake: We still have one advantage, though, and that is the power graph. I guess it is time to start landing troops and burning cities. It probably benefits Epsilon the most, but I don't know what else to do ...

*****************************

Meanwhile, the barbs continue to amass outside of Zapotec. They should attack on the IBT.

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes. The city is training Cavalry.

Hamburger -> We've now built 5 Pikemen. I return the city to Cavalry training.

Treacle Cottage -> The city completes the 5th Pikeman and also returns to Cavalry training.

Brilliant -> No changes. The Frigate should be :whipped: in 3 turns. The city has +5 whip anger and will need 41 turns to work it off.

Twaddle -> The Frigate is :whipped: for 2 pop. Meanwhile the remaining citizens emphazise food and growth. The city has +4 whip anger and will need 37 turns to work it off.

Leonidas -> The city begins a Forge to take advanatage of the newly built workshops. The citizens are MM'ed for hammers.

Chappaquiddick -> Move a citizen to a hill. The Courthouse can be :whipped: next turn.

Phooey -> No changes.

Zapotec -> No changes. What with the barbs, the Workers are doing "make-busy" work building roads.

*****************************

Epsilon's capital grows to size 18. :wow:

It seems Loco has also put down another city. They have been busy with their Settlers, it seems. Our Caravel will go have a look at the city.

Has anyone asked Epsilon why they haven't attacked yet?

I think a letter is in order. They may have to realize that it's 3 on 2 and if they don't surprise attack Aloha to make it a 2v2 then it could be all over for them.

Good point, Whomp. That may be enough to get Epsilon to jump in with us, but unless we allow them to grab some of Aloha's lands, they are probably going to ask for more substantial help with their war against Loco as well.

I'm not sure there's any choice but to fight Loco and Innovia long term. We've made our partnership. Their 3 v our 2 is not an attractive option but our 2v their 1 is.

Turn 182 - 1220AD

11th Turn of the Aloha War

No change in war weariness. (+1:mad: in cities > 10 pop)

*****************************

No new trading to report. Frankly, I still wonder if we won't see PP show up in Aloha's hands in the next turn or two. Aloha has been accumulating cash lately. They are up to 421 gold. Anyone care to speculate on how they might want to spend it?

*****************************

No whipping in Aloha's capital this past turn. Are they saving up to whip another musket (at 4 pop) or a Cossack (at 6 pop)? Privet, on the other hand, was whipped for 1 pop. An analysis of their score shows growth in one other city under the fog.

mtdg1220adwhipshotjd6.jpg

This is the first time we've seen any whipping at Privet (since the war started), so I would presume that a Cossack was whipped. Combine this with Memphus' latest intel photo, and it is not too hard to figure out that these guys know we are heading there ...

*****************************

The defenses of Aloha's capital expand by only a single Cossack this past turn. Not too shabby ...

mtdg1220adalohaod4.jpg

*****************************

Meanwhile, our Axeman defending Zapotec had a couple of barbs suicide against him on the IBT. He has now maxed out his experience at 10xp. One day when we have Rifling, Redcoats, and cash, we can upgrade him ....

But wait, check out the barb city ....

mtdg1220adbarbcitymc2.jpg

I'm sending our last Chariot down there to to get a better look at the city. I would suggest razing the city, though. Two tiles over is a hill that picks up 3 silver mines, crabs, and the deer. Exactly enough food to work all three mines.

But check out Innovia's barb situation:

mtdg1220admagadanue4.jpg

I thought we had barb problems! I'm thinking now would be a good time for our boy to retreat. That barb mace will have no problem with Innovia's cat!

*****************************

Our Caravel got a look at Loco's newest city.

mtdg1220adbombayyv1.jpg

The photo and an updated map are being sent to Epsilon this turn.

*****************************

Balderdash -> No changes. The city is training Cavalry.

Hamburger -> No changes. The city is training Cavalry.

Treacle Cottage -> No changes. The city is training Cavalry.

Brilliant -> Move a citizen to a forrest so that the Frigate can be :whipped: for 2 pop next turn. The city has +4 whip anger and will need 40 turns to work it off.

Twaddle -> The :whipped: Frigate sets sail. The overflow will allow us to :whipped: another Frigate (also for 2 pop) next turn. The city has +4 whip anger and will need 36 turns to work it off.

Leonidas -> No changes.

Chappaquiddick -> The Courthouse is :whipped: for 3 pop.

Phooey -> The city is getting some badly needed irrigation. Move the [only] citizen from working the pony pasture to the farm land.

Zapotec -> No changes. Our Workers start putting in a few more wineries. This'll give our citizens a choice of beverages in which to drown their sorrows ...

:culture: :culture: Theres a tear in my beer 'cause I'm cryin' for you dear ... :culture: :culture:

Two tiles over is a hill that picks up 3 silver mines, crabs, and the deer. Exactly enough food to work all three mines.

If only we could get a workboat in there to improve the crabs.

You mean we havent turned the Hawaiians into pineapple pulp yet? :p

really waiting on you to get back.. .what took you so long? That ball and chain must be slowing you down
