Free must be finishing education, they must be sending it to Council as we speak or in the next turn while Council goes Astro as soon as they get it then Magnestism to make lighthouse obsolete.

They should be getting Cop´s in 8 turns or so. Free could be going Sistine´s/Leo´s, either way we could beat them to one of these.

Future: If we snatch magnetism and deal with BABE for a horse lux and leave Mil Trad to last, plus Leo´s we could have an impressive army without much effort, or just go spears/trebuch all the way to upgrade to infantry/cannons.
 
Council has been going the lower tier techs. When we got to the modern ages neither had Mono. We got Theology out of the Great Gong Lib just last turn. And it wasn't that long ago that I was messing about w/ CAII and figured that neither of the AoD had it. So, the AoD has decided to speed up the tech pace. I would think we should be getting Education in the next 4-6 turns.

Maybe my message to Council about the Babes owning the seas through Astro finally struck a nerve.

Any thoughts as to how we can get Invention out of the AoD?
 
I imagine the only way we're going to get invention is to self research. We need to do that right now.

Council probably is well on their way up the bottom tier. They don't want us to have it so they will give us education then start trading up to mil trad with free.

Totally agree. I sent the AoD an email anyway asking about the lower tier before they bestow us w/ Education. I have no idea what could be worked out but I thought I would take a stab at it anyway and bring back their proposal.

And so far my email has gone unanswered.

Eh, probably they went and are delaying giving over Education so Council can get closer to military trad. and wipe the map with everyone together. Counting on us to wait on the other techs. Rick is probably right they will have Astro soon. I dont have time atm, but later I will look and see if Free has Education; if anyone wants to do that, feel free.

They must be making somewhat between 210-270 beakers per turn, maybe 250 for FREE, 270 for Council, how many can we put on with all the specialists?

I agree with Bugsy, lets go for Invention asap and snatch Leo´s, like killer sugestioned i think

Note: The Concil/Free must be milking a lot of money from Saber for the ancient techs, shouldnt we send some letter along saying we also suply techs, maybe at a more competitve price? Why are they the only ones with that monopoly...That money could buys us some maps from FREE/BABE also...
 
I don't think Saber is getting any techs whatsoever from Free or Council. But we can go back in the saves and see if that's true.

I have been chatting up all the other teams. I'm trying to see if we can get a very long term peace with all of them.

Take a look in the diplo threads for some of my random thoughts and messages to the others.

And BTW, sorry if I'm overstepping right now. I figure you gotta talk to get deals and you have to stick your nose out there to at least insert yourself between another deal in the works.

What would be the objection if we could get peace deals w/ all the other team that lasted until say... turn 240 or beyond? Should this be a goal? We could force the Babes into a partnership w/ Saber to take on Free and Council while we sit by and watch.

A long term non-agresssion pact w/ F&C in exchange for not dog-piling either of them.
A permanent non-agressionpact w/ Saber for gifting them up to tech parity and teaming them w/ the Babes.

FREE has Education I believe. From last turn 8 scientists (24 beakers) gives 49 turns to completion= 1176. Per techcalc, 5 civs and one civ knowing it puts the value at 1169, not 1320. So I wonder if we will get it this turn or they will hold on to it and see if they get to Astro?

Full speed ahead on Engineering it is.
 
Well they didnt trade over so I guess they are trying to be deceptive. We are pretty crafty too though;) .

Invention is due in 4 turns at 20% lux. We really are not starving much, but growth is pretty stagnant with 52 scientists. We make 286 bpt, not bad really. However we have a deficit of 80 gold we need to make up somehow. I figure we can max out at 350 beakers w/o universities, which is 6 turn Magnetism or 5 turn Navigation. Really that is not too bad, we just have to get the population up.

Other thoughts- Sugar Mountain is due for a cathedral in 3 turns, and is losing 1 fpt. DSOTM, the Leos build, has 519 shields, and is making 16 per turn for the 4 turns we are taking on invention since it has a happy problem. But it will jump back up to 18 on the turn it builds Leos so it should work perfectly. Graceland has only 4 happy and gets one scientist (still 2 turn growth there).

There are only about 5 or 6 jungle tiles left to clear.

I am thinking we should invade Free after Navigation. They are average to us, and we could drop 90 spears or something on them pretty quickly to just pillage while we build a larger military force.

Thinking that also, but with navigation we could link up horses from Babe and pump horseman like crazy and get Cavalry, why rape them if you can conquer them....and what cities would be set for military?

Note: Maybe we should start a pre-build for ToE in Sugar Mountain?

Also: Is Babe aware that their navy and troops will be hopless stcuk in somewhere for a period when lightouse becomes obsolete, we will need to give them navigation.
 
We cant build horses quickly, only 2 turners in 3-4 cities unless we want to whip 2 pop/wait ten turns.

ToE is a good idea somewhere. We would need a prebuild set for Hoovers too. Its really hard to guage how much research times will be from now though with the uncertainty of Edu-> rest of the MAs. If we can figure that we can start it at the appropriate time.

If we get Education bestowed upon us I would say we switch from lower tier to work w/ Babes and Saber, if possible, to make a run at Astro. That will give us the ships and capability needed to block Sea tiles and force opponent Galleons into dangerous ocean tiles.
 
Well I had a nice log written and i lost it with an IE error. Anyways, we whipped 4 libraries/caths this turn. Slane Castle, Yellow Brick Road, DoT, and Palace on the Brine were the recipients, some of those with worker addins. We have 7-8 more jungle/marsh tiles to clear IIRC and we can probably do 1 per turn or every other turn with moving. This is pretty low priority though as our pop is so low from whipping. We really need some mps out there in the corrupt areas to help out.

We are on the verge of Invention in 3 with the scientist configurations. Per JB's advice, Sugar Mountain is no longer starving at the loss of 1 commerce. Several other cities are set to grow with the use of some entertainers, specifically Rock Lobsterford and the city next to it and these can whip their caths next turn.

Military is our #1 need right now, as we are entering the slow culture phase. Can someone look at our cpt in CA2 and add in the +12 from this turn? That will show us where we are and where we need to be to better balance military, science, and culture.

Our culture is now an even 250 cpt. By turn 130 (5 turns) I expect it to be about 300. What should we build then? Disconnect iron, assuming Leos, and upgrade warriors? We make about 120 gpt with taxmen/little growth. Our science will be zilch. Pikes-> muskets are 45 gold w/ Leos, and we can do some of those which will be handy.

Are we going to attack FREE? Or do we want to block the coast? What composition should our army be? Specifically how many of our best attack units do we want by what time, how many trebs do we want, and if we are going to attack Free, how many ships and cover troops (muskets) would we like to feel comfortable?

We might want to ask BABE to do Gunpowder. Realistically i think we can transport 40 troops to Free soon, within 15 turns with the Lighthouse assuming the tohers continue their Education denial gambit. We can whip some regular spears and upgrade them to pikes dirt cheap, about 8 per turn. I would think we would want 20-25 pikes and the rest MDI or drop the pikes and ship chain the rest of the troops up there. I'll look at the numbers and see what we can do.
 
After checking, we are now weak to FREE, but I think we can get more boats out (25-30) with ~20 coastal towns. The 19 warriors we have can be upgraded in 6 turns/selectively replacing those MPs with something else. 30 spears _> pikes is 450 gold/4 turns. It might be possible for 10 trebs with that.

With careful upgrading we can tell how much Free has, they may have just upgraded some warriors to MDI. I kind of wish BABE could send us some pics of the Council front.
 
I believe we need some map screeshots from BABE in exchange for Invention? for example, hell, for invention ask the world map, arent we allies?? Press them for world map, i believe we deserve it by this point...also Astro age is coming up in 10 turns or so....the map wont be much valuable then...

At least give us a screen of what lies northwest of us since we already know that BABE is to our south.

We need to find out if there is any islands around us with...lets say horses? saltpeper? even coal...? if they are and are unsettled that should be a priority if they are settled our military should go for them first since they will be with out doubt weak in defense.

Since the world is all connected going south or north ,we prob could get to Free from another direction....and surprise them :D

I agree on asking Babes to do Gunpowder asap, since Council/Free must be finishing Astro or Guns and going Chemistry/Mil Trad.
