Turnplay Log

The turn was late so I played and sent it forward.

The Babes send us metallurgy. I hit accept and then send but it doesn't show up in our science advisor screen. Next turn? Also, Saber did not send banking. Does the deal need to be done again?

In production this turn:
Graceland=>warrior
GWOF=>warrior
Nutbush City=>worker
We Built This City=>warrior
Paradise City=>warrior
Sugar Mountain=>spearman
St. Alphonzo's=>warrior
Cariboo=>worker
Whiskeytown=>worker
Kokome=>caravel
Rutupiae=>temple

Beach Party was whipped for three pop for a library next turn. We should be making 333cpt next turn. I notice Free has become number two in culture at 2593. We need to increase our culture to be able to double the other teams at 100k, so almost every city was switched to a culture build. We are average in power to Saber and Council and strong against Free. The Council has Sistine's and will likely build cathedrals. Saber and the Council are building Copernicus' Observatory.

I may be wrong, but I think we have enough workers to work the remaining hills and mountains, before starting forestry operations. Our caravel promptly sinks a barb galley and two galleys keep exploring Free's lands. Units are shuffled around to act as mp's allowing more discontent citizens to work the land.

Navigation is due in 7 turns at 0% science 20% luxury with 1394 gold in the treasury at -9 gpt. After we gift the GLib to the Babes we need to think about switching to Republic to increase our research and be a good trading partner on the way to replaceable parts.

Superb job Prince Myshikin, yes we have enough workers, but don´t forget railroads are coming....The Banking deal still needs to be done, Banking + 90 gold = Chemistry sounds nice (i initially proposed 20 gold but killerkanes words convince me to ask for more).

One of our galleys was recalled to upgrade to caravel, you should connect iron and saltpeper soon, we have enough veteran warriors/spears and money for an upgrade....

Invading the resource islands of Free was an option on the table....

In production this turn:

DSOTM=>library
Sugar Mountain=>spearman
Beach Party=>library

Love Shack whips a cathedral for three pop. and we are now at 329cpt with an estimated win date of 1625AD.

We now know metallurgy. A short note was sent to Saber informing them we are interested in trading chemistry for banking plus 90 gold.

All but one galley near Free's lands are in port waiting for an upgrade in a soon to be completed harbor.

After losing some pop. navigation is still due in 7 turns at 0% science and 20% luxury. We have 1345 gold in the treasury and are losing 4gpt. Team Saber is no longer building Copernicus' in F7 and there is no changes in relative power. Our nearest culture rival, Team Free, is only making 103cpt.

An uneventful turn. We produce a spearman at Sugar Mountain and a cathedral at Love Shack. We are making 335cpt for an estimated win date of 1615AD. Team Free is still making 103cpt in second place.

Team Saber sends banking and 90 gold as promised and we send them chemistry. They are now interested in a physics-metallurgy shared research agreement, but do not know we have metallurgy already. We could have them research physics while we finish navigation, but should we? Do we need explored trade routes to be able to trade resources with Saber and the Babes?

We have 1341 gold in the treasury at -6gpt with 0% science and 20% luxury. No cities were ready to whip this turn. The Council continues building Copernicus' and their city The Treasury is losing pop. There is no change in relative power. Our palace upgraded once again gaining much needed foliage.

Sugar Mountain produces a spearman and we are now at 338cpt with an estimated win date of 1610AD. No cities are currently ready for the whip. I bumped the science slider to 40% to get navigation in three turns. We have1425 gold in the treasury at -74gpt for the next three turns.

I sent a note to Team Saber that we might be interested in physics for metallurgy. They will have physics in 3 turns. I think its a good deal, but what does everybody else think? Wotan indicated he is only continuing to play to do the GLib swap when Free/Council enter the IA. I think he might yet continue to play the game, especially if communication picks up.

The Council is now building MoM as well as Copernicus and will enter a GA when these are completed. It would take us 10 turns to build the MoM at Sugar Mountain and 12 turns at DSOTM. Do we want to try to do this to deny them their GA, or just let it go?

There were no changes in relative power between the teams on this turn.

I agree trading Metallurgy for Physics...have you already started to upgrade some MDI´s?

Hum...MoM or 10 spears...i´d say 10 spears would be great for a possible war ahead....and i don´t believe they are actually going to build MoM...

however do we need it to fasten our cultural vic?

The Council just built Cope's, so they might build the MoM to kisk start a GA. They might also build Newton's soon to do the same thing, so they would probably be hard to stop. We don't really need it for culture, since a university gives twice as much culture for the same shields.

Again, Sugar Mountain produces a vet spear. One galley discovers the tip end of an island with a Free caravel nearby north of Free's lands. No city is ready for whipping and Free's now has 111cpt. The Council completes Cope's and is still building MoM in The Squeeze. They do not have banking yet but Free does. They aren't trading everything it seems. Wotan plans on sending us a town soon on an island with Saber units and Saber should trade us physics for metallurgy in 2 turns. Science is bumped down to 30% for navigation in 2 turns with 1351 gold at -59gpt.

Wotan asked the about the activitiy of Team Gong and of killer and jb in particular.

Another vet spearman at Sugar Mountain. We will have navigation next turn at 30% science with 1292 gold in the treasury and -50gpt. Still no cities ready for the whip. Team Free is now 115cpt, apparently building universities. No changes in relative power or known technology. Team Council is no longer showing a MoM build in F7. DSOTM is now the world's #1 city and our population has risen to #3. The island our galley discovered last turn is occupied by Team Free. The Babes have declared war on Team Saber. I wonder how they would feel about us trading tech with Saber, but expect physics to be sent next turn.

We discover navigation and it is a monopoly. Sugar Mountain does another vet spearman and a harbor is rushed at Castle Donnington by disbanding one galley. We will upgrade the other galleys to caravels next turn. Iron should be connected next turn. Team Saber still has not sent physics, but since this is expected research is set to physics with a lone scientist. We have 1242 gold in the treasury making 106gpt atm. No further changes in demographics or relative power. Team Free is now making 119cpt, while we still stand at 338cpt.

Did we send Nav to Babes so we can trade luxes with them?

Did we send Nav to Babes so we can trade luxes with them?

We can't send them navigation since they still don't have education. We'll have a harbor on the next turn. Can't we trade with everybody which with we have a trade route without sending them navigation?

BTW, the Council still doesn't have banking. When are we going to be able to trade the GLib and will it be worth anything? I'll not give Saber too long to send physics before turning up the science. They said they were interested in trading, but maybe the war with the Babes have changed their minds.

Doh! Of course! I cant remember if only one side needs Navigation or not.

Sugar Mountain produces another vet spearman and since we have just connected iron starts on a pikeman due in two turns. I tried to juggle its worked tiles, but it falls just short of a pikeman in one turn. It might be better to do two turn medieval infantry since this is a massive waste of shields.

Castle Donnington completes its harbor and we upgrade a curragh and two galleys to caravels for 67 gold. We are still not able to trade with the other civs. I agree with Rick that only one team needs navigation to be able to trade with the other, but we also need a visible trade route to their capital. We will either need to trade maps with those we want to trade with or explore these routes ourselves. On this turn we come in sight of a harbor on the Free mainland but their capital remains in the fog. Perhaps the Babes are interested in trading maps, but I doubt any other team is too interested.

Stone Pony whips a library for three citizens this turn but no other city is yet ready for the whip. We have 1281 gold in the treasury with science off making 108 gpt. I notice that the Council now has banking and that I was wrong earlier about Cope's making them one wonder away from a GA as it is only of use to an expansionist civilization. There are no other changes in relative power or culture.

Team Saber sends us physics and we send them metallurgy as promised. I will send them a note of thanks and inform them we are not interested in a trade of military tradition for magnetism. What do we want to research next? We could research theory on gravity since Saber has indicated they are pursuing magnetism. We could also either keep research off while waiting for a GLib trade with Babe or research Music Theory while we wait for a chance to build JSBach's Cathedral and its very nice two happy faces per city. Also, as we have a monopoly on navigation do we want to go ahead and build Magellan's Voyage in DSOTM both for our own benefit and denial to the other teams?

I think JSBach´s Cathedral would be a replacement for the loss of Cistine´s, since we are doing the GLib soon, researching the same techs as F/C would not be good, however if we do not gain those techs form the GLib move it would spell doom for us....

I don´t think we really need Magellan´s, and there is also the possibility of starting a prebuild for Theory of Evolution....

Have you upgraded any troops so far?

No troops have been upgraded so far, but will start next turn.

We don't really need Magellan's, but others might want it. We'll put it off for now, since a university is more culture.

I think we can tell when Free/Council reach the IA since their leaders should get new clothes on the foreign advisor screen. We should only swap the GLib when we are sure they are in the IA. I suppose we'll research Music Theory while we wait for the swap since JSBach's is so nice.

Stone Pony completes a library giving us 341cpt while Free is making 123cpt. We now have physics from Saber and switch our specialists to scientists which will give us Music Theory in 7 turns at 0% science and 20%luxury. We upgrade 13 warriors to MDI, 3 spearmen to pikemen, and 1 catapult to a trbuchet for 675gold. We are now strong against all civs except the Babes. We have 758 gold in the treasury making -4gpt. F7 reports that Team Saber is building the Great Wall.

After discovering Free's port last turn we can now trade with the Council and Free according to the trade advisor. Free has horses, spices, ivory, and gems while the Council has dyes and gems. Both the Council and Free are in the IA according to their clothes in the foreign advisor. I think Saber will also be in the IA in 7-turns, so Sugar Mountain is switched to a bank due in 7-turns just before we make the GLib swap with the Babes.

Team Saber is now offering thory of gravity and magnetism for military tradition. While we are not interested in this trade, they have also asked permission to approach our shores looking for a harbor so that we may trade luxes. Do we want to allow this? They appear to have been trading some tech at least with Free/Council since they now claim to have magnetism. We should be able to trade 2 luxes with Saber while it appears the Babes have a lux in common with us and will only be able to trade one and horses.

Trade away. We have no shot at attacking Free now that they are in Industrial and are going on riflemen. I dont think we should bother with anything but population and workers and hope for the best (a war breakout). No upgrades unless invaded.

Do we have workers in place to rail everything? At least 50+?

Luxes will help with whip unhappiness. We have to get the unis done asap and get over 500 cpt. We have less than 60 turns to get to 1000 cpt.

Upon an invasion of our lands with marines or bombers, we can just clog everything with hundreds of cheap units, spears and warriors. It will take them a good while to get through those and buy us some time. We can also keep a podunk artillery force of as many cannons as we can get.

Do we have an Industrial Age agreement with the Babes? TGL swap now or when Saber hits Industrial? IE, do the others have steam power?
