Over the past few days, an additional two previews have been released for Colonization. The first, available at JeuxVideo, is written in French only. However, it contains some new screenshots that are worth a look (see below). A second preview was released by PALGN, where they had these comments to make:
The city management screens provide one of the more obvious points of difference. The left hand side of the screen is dedicated to a variety of specialist slots - furriers, blacksmiths, ministers of religion and rum distillers, to name just a few. As the game progresses, you can plug specialists into these slots, which will generally increase a city's production of a particular resource or item. These can then be traded between your cities, with the native population or sent home on a trader's ship. In our short time with the game, it quickly became apparent that one of the keys to success is a vibrant economy that makes the most of every resource at your disposal.

In total, 26 new screenshots have been added to the gallery from various sources. They include images of the Civilopedia, various advisor screens, the leaders and their traits, as well as other gameplay scenes. Here are some thumbnails:

never played colinization but i hope they dont try to sell this like a brand new game(40$&up).

I'm looking at the screen shots (and maybe a veteran from the original colinization can answer this) but there appears to be no capitals? Do any cities have capital status?

I don't think so. No palace. My memory of the original Col was the same. Centralised government (outside of the European motherland) is a matter for consideration after the battle for independence is won.

At first I was like whatever colonization because pirates didn't turn out good but I might actually buy this one and another thing are they getting bigger maps than in civ4.

No idea, but in Civ4 map size is mostly a matter of some xml and Python changes, there are mods which introduce larger world sizes, like XXL World.

It looks like the leaderheads have been bumped up in quality a bit from CivIV, more light and shadows in the same manner as the water and other things.

To answer the question about capitals. No capitals in the game. Also city management is ALOT different. You don't rely on production tiles. Instead you collect lumber and make hammers from that. These act as production tiles. But for some things you need tools which are made by a blacksmith from iron ore which is collected by an ore miner. Basically every colonist has a specialty and they can do different jobs. Just by looking at the screenshots it would appear that this game is much more in line with the original colonization game than with any civ game. Hope that helps. I know this because I play the original every day on my Mac with DosBox. I was always wondering when they were going to an "update" to this classic.
