Any old XCOM UFO: Enemy Unknown (UFO: Defense) fans on here play the new UFO: Afterlight? It is a sequel to Aftermath and Aftershock. Still doesn't fill the shoes of the original, but it does its job. If you are a fan of the old, then pick this game up.

It isn't made by the original company, but this game is definitely an awesome game and deserves some cred for what they have brought this game to.

Just started.

Already in trouble with it. the three resourses [Low] [High] [Alien]
Seems I ran out of alien very very quickly and havent come by any as of yet.
How do I get alien ?
Can I uh sell alien items to get it ?

I didn't play it but i'm a sort of an X-Com fan; and i saw trailers that were so horrible they convinced me never to play the game. It was like everyone was made from plastic and everything seemed like children playing.
Everything seemed so darn happy like yay i'm going to happily throw this happy grenade with my happy grenade launcher to that happy alien over there and because he is so happy there will be no blood because that is not happy, after i do this i will happily start picking happy alien flowers untill other happy aliens apear for us to exchange happy things.

haha, that's true. The graphics are kind of 'sims like' if that's what you mean? Plus, the music is like civ4 which is lame because I loved the old music and sounds effects from the original. They made it have that erie feeling to it.

That's what i'm talking about. The whole game gave an uneasy feeling. I've never played this game, so i'm not saying the gameplay is bad - but first impression kills my will to play it; and first impression rarely does that.

I'm a big fan of the old XCOM series, and if someone remade XCOM 1 or 3 for the modern computers I'd buy it. XCOM Apocalypse was superb because you could manage everything, including tuning the hovercars to your liking. The hovercars were the absolute UFO killers when set up correctly, the larger clumsier vessels just got damaged or shot down because they couldn't avoid the incoming fire. The hovercars just maneuvered between the buildings and the ufo's just kept blasting the skyscrapers.

I don't undestand why it's so hard to make a sequel worthy of the original XCOM. Aftermath was no good, so I'll check the Afterlight. But I won't expect any miracles.

Sims like graphics ???
maps are getting bigger now and action much more intense with larger numbers of enemies. Man those Brain thingys take some killing I have to form a firing line and burst fire in order to taken them down.
