Ultimate Frustration!?! (Late Game Save Corruption)

I played for two hours last night. All late game combat, so they were tedious turns that didn't get me very far. I barely went from 1980 to 1991, but in that turn I wiped one civ off the map and started digging into two others.

Now tonight, I want to close the deal, but none of my autosaves from last night will load. The game crashed every single time.

Any one experienced this? I'm afraid if I did muster the patience to replay all of those tedious turns then the next saves would be just as useless when I went back to continue the game...

Oh, sorry, this should've gone in technical...I started writing something more general about frustration, but erased it and just focused on the glitch. My bad.

Yes, and autosaves from earlier in the game work. So I'm afraid there's no point in going forward. I guess I should test it. Play past the line after which the autosaves are corrupted and see if the new saves have the same problem. I just really don't want to replay those same darn turns...very tedious, you know?
