Has anyone ever made a little mistake... wanting an UNDO button?

Here are some examples:

I get the Oxford, and the science screen pops up, and I think it's asking me what I want to research instead of my free tech. DOH!

I am moving my warrior, and the leader screen comes up, but my computer is slow and it is delayed. I hit enter a couple times and now I'm at war with someone! DOH!

There are others, but the point is, I wish there was a quick undo button for keystrokes. Sometimes I just don't want to reload the game for one stupid mistake. Oh... others...

Accidentally setting a stupid trade... I have given other civs stuff for free because I hit the wrong button.

Accidentally sending a caravan to the wrong place... there's 30 turns you won't get back.

One time I accidentally wasted a prophet by converting my holy city.

Zai, I agree. In the game I'm currently playing I completely missed building the Porcelain Tower and on occasions I'll move a Unit into harms way by accident, but that's all part of the human error element right, LOL?

The problem is there is a fine line between a mis-click and "maybe I shouldn't have done that. Let me re-load and try something different".

OP examples are why everyone should play with 1 turn autosaves IMHO. I still find the interface fiddly and mis-click a few times per game. Reloading takes too long, but I would use it for some of the OP examples. Once I meant to dismiss a terrible peace offer and gave up several cities!

I would like an “undo” for unit moves (not attacks). The availability of undo would be limited to situations where no fog of war or visibility changed. Again, fiddly interface and sometimes my clicks are interpreted as click-drag. Usually late game when I managing a lot of units. Not worth reloading for, but undo sure would be nice!

I've not played on any of the Auto Modes are they resource hogs or slow the performance of the game down? Heh, I suppose I could try it, but since you mentioned it I thought I'd ask.

The auto save feature does not slow down game play at all.

Autosave every turn is the best option, i use it for many reasons such as guarding against crashes (not so prominent these days but can be an issue in many games especially in early release) and also because you no longer have the option to see none enemy moves during the AI's turn.i.e. you used to be able to post a scout and spot an enemy force moving toward your borders before they actually attacked but now to get the same effect you have to actively look which can be time consuming, but you sometimes have to have some discipline not to use it just to correct your mistakes rather than miss-clicks.

If i miss-click something and reload i always ensure i do exactly the same as i did up to that point during that turn so i don't gain an advantage beyond erasing the miss-click.
If i get 'surprise' attacked i go back and repeat what i did exactly up to the point that i can actually see the enemy force incomming.

Pay closer attention to what your doing.

It’s suppose to be entertainment! If the UI becomes a chore, then the game aspect is lessened. Autosave and a willingness to reload brings value. I micro manage workers because I actually enjoy crafting the road networks. I don’t micro unit routes and tiles that are being worked because it’s too tedious.

Did something change with the game? Or is it that you have changed settings (disable animations) or habits (not watching after hitting “end turn”)?

Agree, or pay closer attention to what your doing.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with paying attention.

I've had instances where just as I click on a unit, a dialogue box pops up, and suddenly I've agreed to open borders. Or I click a dozen times on a unit because the stupid computer insists on keeping the other unit highlighted. When it's finally recognized, it suddenly heads off in a direction I did not want. Or I have a unit selected and am about to move it, when a dialogue box appears which I have to deal with. Let's say I click "refuse" or something, then suddenly my unit appears near the postion of that refusal button and suddenly I've declared war.

A simple undo button would be nice in situations like that. Even a simple keystroke like are in many programs such InDesign, Photoshop, Word, etc. Control Z.

I do use autosave, but only have it set for every 2 turns. But still, it's a pain to have to quit the game, drag the autosave to the single game folder and then relaunch.

You do know that the autosaves can be accessed without quitting the game and moving the file to another folder by clicking on the Steam cloud button or whatever it is on the load screen, right? If not, that should help take care of that annoyance.

If you have plenty of hard drive space you can always set NumAutosavesKept in the UserSettings.ini file to a higher value. I have it set to 500. That way I can go back just about as far as I could ever want to and replay any turn.

An undo button could be useful. I made a deal online for an embassy and ripped myself off/made the 'wife' think she trade raped me into trading me a resource that I already had. An undo button could really save you quick load times.

Dr. D--thanks for the info. I'm on a Mac and have the App Store version, though. Not the steam one.
