Yesterday the weirdest thing happened.

Im playing as bysantine empire on next war mod, i recently finished a war with saladin who brought in the Mongolians against me and i am still at war with the second. Genghis never bother me since he was to far away.

Now i get an event about some royal marriage going wrong and i get a -1 diplomacy with germany, at the same time this happens, everybody else declares war on me, except germany. This means 4 new wars, 5 in total. From some of them my diplo level before was pleased or at leased possitive. Also, they never really "declared" war, no diploscreen of them telling me, the status just changed to war.

Is this a bug, maybe has to do with the event? I have a savegame from the turn before, if someone wants/needs it i'll post it later. I'm at work right now.

I guess someone who hates you has brought up the Apostolic Palace resolution to declare war on you. The others didn't veto it and so they were all 'forced' to declare war on you.

Only genghis was a full member, isabella was the apostilic palace owner, the rest was only voting member. Or do voting members also have to declare war? (i thought a voting member was a member who had the religion in 1 or more cities, but did not have it as state religion, and therefore not bound to apostilic palace decisions)

If i would attach the savegame, is it possible somebody can find out what actually happened, if for example it is what you said?

if you aren't an AP member and you are at war with a full member the AP voting can force all members (voting and full) to declare war on you

or they wehere bribed by eachother

Wouldn't i still get 4 diplomacy screens with them telling me they declare war on me? (same actually with the apostolic palace, shouldn't somebody at least tell me that the decided to get rid of me.

Doe the AI change if war is brought in like this, or can i still hope for a happy ending by defending my lands and not attack any of them(except maybe that idiot saladin who didn't learn his lesson the first time i attacked him and took his only supply of iron  )

If it was a bribe they would tell you that they declare, if it is the AP they just declare without bothering to tell the infidels that they are on the receiving end of a crusade
the good news is: the AP triggers war but the AI cannot prepare for it. In a normal DOW the AI used dozens of turns beforehand to assemble one or more stacks and send them your way and only when they reach your borders they declare war. In the AP's case they start preparing the same turn that war is declared so you are likely to not see any attack for some time...

Ah, dammit.

Thing is, i declared war on saladin, and genghis probably had a defensive pact since he attacked. I didn't harm any mongolian during the war with saladin, still i could make peace with sal long before i could with genghis. And now that idiot brings on the whole world for nothing, he is evil, if i survive this then genghis isn't:ar15:

Well, ok it probably isn't a bug then, it just accidentally coincided with that event.

Thanks :) That IS good news (but genghis still is going to pay for it)

Best of luck, let us know how you get on, please please please teach the disloyal backstabbing bunch of £"&^% a lesson they wont forget.

I will.
So far, i only attacked saladin myself, my relationship with germany gets better, and the rest haven't atttacked yet. And probably won't before peace, so i geuss i escaped it this time :)
Germany declared war on Genghis for me and also got the full force of buddhism against him.

At the moment genghis is to far away from me, but i have a long memory.
I'll post here when he is dead or if i lose after all.

Attached for the interested the savegame right before the gang up.

Oh kay

same game, some years later (i'm a slow player  )

On my continent saladin had 4 cities left, he was a vassal of spain.
a while in the war, i took 2 of his cities at the same turn, the second i took the second city, i suddenly had taken ALL his cities on this/my continent (he still had 2 islands)
the 2 "extra" cities where empty of soldiers, i did get his workers though.
one of the cities had 5 of his units next to it(so next turn he took it back) but the other stayed mine up to now. The same turn this happened he also broke of as vassal of spain.

bug? remember it's from next war mod.

Currently he has capitulated to spain, who is undisputed nr 1 at the moment...he thinks he is safe :mwaha:

:D
now you have found the second of three or four game breaking bugs in 3.13 :goodjob:
Install Bhruic's unofficial patch - I am serious
This bug is caused by teleporting workers that saladin had sitting in some transports in his cities - they get teleported around his cities and at the same time change allegiance to you so that you capture those cities without a fight :crazyeye: This can, given the right circumstances, take down a whole civ...

I think you might be able to manage. It seems to me that when the AI is unprepared for war, they usually do pretty aweful at it :P

That's not always the case, though. In my current game I bribed Monty to help me take down Alex and he ended up taking about 2/3 of his land in a short time span. I had to force peace to stop him from capitulating or Monty stealing the cities I wanted.

But hey, it's Monty. What do you expect? :p
