Unit Concept Development/Preview: African Pikeman

they did develop spears on their own and the shafts were the same size as the euros and as everybody elses. Its a matter of ease of use.

the reason for making the shaft thicker was so it shows up properly at civ scale. seeing the unit aat civ scale makes me think the shaft could be thinned down and it will still show up fine. As it is now it looks like he is carrying a small tree around with him, either that or a street lamp post.

I just don't want to discourage Dease...he's done such a great job with this unit.

If the fidget idea is still open:
Have him balancing his pike on his neck/back and dangling his arms over it. (like some do with baseball bats)
OR
Tap his foot against the bottom end of the pike.
OR
have him look into the horizon, using his hand to shield the light from the sun.
OR
Have him drop the pike

NO, NO, NO!!! this unit isn't dead!

to make a long story short - my old computer died, I took it in to get it fixed. the lazy people there took 2 weeks to fix it, even though the internet didn't work when we i got it back. so it went back in the shop, I went on vacation, I got back last night and the computer is basically fixed although it's a bit messed, so, ummm...... yeah, I'm gonna lock myself in this room and finish this!!!
(although first I'm gonna have read lots and find out what new has been created since mid july)

Oh, and for the fidget I'm just gonna have him take the pike to his side and maybe something else with his other hand

Thankgod! I'm glad to see you back Dease! You haven't missed much I think..
just awhole bunch of new tanks from Muffins, new civs from Civarmy and R8XFT, and an entire battalion of new Riflemen from Bebro(plus a Tiger Warrior and an Ottomon Knight). DP hasn't finished his African units yet...hopefully you both can realise them all at once on the Dark Continent unit pack, just have DP post it for you there.

You have definitely improved since you made the Arquebusier unit, and that guy was a great unit as well. Thanks for doing this unit Dease. African units are in short supply, it means alot to me that you did this!

It means A LOT to me that people appreciate my work, it makes me more determined to make the unit the best possible (I had to redo this whole unit (-modeling&animating) to correct the lighting, size, AND centering , TWICE!!!!!!!!! )
