Unit Request: Brazilian Bandeirante

Brazil is in my World of Conflict scenario, and their UU is the Bandeirante (a fast settler that can fight).

I just need somebody to make the graphics!

This is a unit that myself and some Brazilians modders have wanted for quite some time now.

As you can see, they use rifles and a big hat. A backpack would be nice too. (will also need a settle animation)

Just one thing about this unit:

It can defend itself, when not settled, but once it settles, it becomes defenceless???

it's a settler with attack and defense stats (in this particular scenario it's a 3/2). that way it can fight for itself if it needs to instead of getting captured. i also give it two movement uneffected by jungle. once it settles, it becomes a city so yeah it's becomes defenceless because it's not a unit anymore.

the Bandeirante were Portugese explorers who pretty much claimed the land that is modern Brazil by settling towns, and also attacking the natives and making them slaves. they really didn't work for Brazil but for themselves. but without them, Brazil wouldn't be nearly as big as it is now. Atleast that's what I was told.

Okay, I learned one thing. Unit is not the same thing as a town/city/metropol

Well Mr Sween, you may want to take a look at www.civ3.com/forum , it is a brazilian civ3 comunity that is currently working on a brazilian mod. If you don´t speak portuguese (I believe you don´t ) you can wait... I will contact them (many of them do have accounts at CFC) and let us see what happens. I will also try my very humble hand at it.

Ah BTW, that is what happened... they expanded Brazil into it´s moden territory... The treaty of Torsesilhas that Portugal had with Spain defined that a much smaller piece of South America was Portuguese, but thanks to those Bandeirantes (A word derived from Flag) Brasil grew to the large size it has nowadays.

nuke, those brazilian modders were the ones that got me to put brazil in my scenario. and yes i do speak a little portugese. i work with them so you have to know a little bit. i need to learn more, though.

andrew, the vallista already belongs to mexico. having two UU's that look the same but do different things isn't very good.

Hi sween,
We discussed a lot about the brazilian civ and we have almost everything set up.
If you want to see what are the atributes of the civ and stuff, I can post them here.
We have a different view on the bandeirantes, one that makes it less worthy, but better historically placed.

It would be great if someone could make the graphics, since that's is not easy to do, and if we tried to do it, I don't think it would come out as good as the ones made by the professional graphic makers of this forum.

Sween, I sent you an e-mail some time ago asking if you would make a Brazilian Civilization.
If you haven t see it, the brazilian people in www.civ3.com.br/forum are trying to do a mod with a brazilian.
Here is what we have choose:
Leader: Emperor Dom Pedro II(1825-1891)
It was a great man, very interested in the arts, science, discovery, astronomy and much more. He was the son of the King Dom Pedro IV from Portugal and ArchDuchess Leopodina, daughter of the Austrian Emperor.
Bonuses: Expancionist and religious(or commercial)
UU: Bandeirante
But it can be the Independence Dragon, an elite cavalry.
Or the Country Volunteer, an rifle man that fought in brazilian army on the Paraguay´s War(1864-1870)
Capital: Brasília

sorry guys, its only a suggestion. But it was easy to do. I just used the Riflemans arms and gun, and replaced it with the setlers arms and stick. It was very difficult to do. Sween you could make yourself in a week
