Could someone do a mobile offshore base for me ill try to post a picture someone pls tell me how.

did that work?

guess it didnt hmmmm someone pls help me.

Use 'upload file' command in bottom left corner of the page - send the pic either as 256-color .gif or 16-million color .jpg. Gif would be better, as the file size is somewhat smaller. Then hit IMG button and type:

here hope this works.

Bump!!!

Please someone do this I would be so greatful.

 Sure, based on that picture, I'll have this unit finished in about . . . a year! Should it take up four tiles, or just three? ;)

Seriously though, good luck finding someone to make it. Better yet, you should learn how to use Rhino or some other 3d program and make it yourself; that would probably be faster. Of course, I've been wrong before, so someone might take up the challenge--especially if you don't want it animated. Then you would only need one image of this huge thing. If one static image is good enough for you, I would talk to Ukas. He does buildings and wonders, and this would be similar.

hey im a navy man what do you expect. Yeah I figured it would be large if its possible to make it take up 4 tiles that would be cool. I want it to be able to launch aircraft from international waters just like the U.S. Is it possible to make a civ only be able to build one and only if it is destroyed build another. I was thinking of making it like a wonder but not sure if its possible. I doubt anyone will do this for me which is very saddening but cities take up only 1 sqaure so y couldn't this?

Not sure what you eman by one image of it or whatever not good at modding so dont know everything about it yet.

I just noticed theres an Aircraft carrier pulling up to it and it looks like an ant. I dont care about it scale wise to other things since cities aren't.

Aircraft carrier? Where? I see a nuclear sub, frigates and destoryers, a transport or 3, but I don't see an aircraft carrier.

Its sorta in the back next to a crane.

I'm guessing the crane upper left from the center...That looks more like a transport...actually an oil tanker, considering the 'island' of a carrier's more in the middle and that's on the end. But anyway....if someone made this. it'd be a rather pricey and slow unit. Reminds me of the deathstar in a way.

and that thing is suppose to move:eek:

Yup, that behemoth is supposed to move. It's supposedly actually going to be interconnected segments, that can move on their own or together. I have that issue of popular mechancics so...yeah

By one static image utahjazz means that it would have no animation, it would be static like units in civ2. No fancy default animations with radar towers and no move animations with waves and stuff. Sounds can be attached. Obviously a static unit is much easier to do.

I do buildings and wonders and I don't know that much about unit animations - just learning slowly. Anyway I think even if its possible to make an unit bigger than a tile, it's not possible to make an unit with multiple active tiles (e.g. bombers would land only on the single real tile. What I guess is possible is four parts which can be later joined together to make it a really big base. Like four different units mob1 (mobile offshore base), mob2, mob3 and mob4. For example mob1 would be a aircraft carrier part, mob2 would be a bombardment unit with long range, mob3 something cool and mob4 more something cool. They could be joined like lego blocks in the sea:

12 123 23 etc. etc. you know...
34 4 41

This arrangement obviously wouldn't create any real benefits itself, but I'm just playing with the idea. Probably AI would like them too much and use them as a single naval units or if with some flags it wouldn't know how to use it.

I don't think that this unit would be all that difficult considering some of the units people have made...

It doesn't have to be a complete picture of this with all of the trimmings, scaled down, half the stuff wouldn't even be visible... just the general shape and some blobs representing the structures would be good enough... I don't think it would be particularly difficult at all actually.

As Ukas said though, it would be extremely difficult to make this unit functional...

I did a scenario for Civ2 that takes place in the year 2025, and I wanted these things as a feature, but I couldn't make an aircraft carrier AND a unit transport in one unit. Can't be done. And it would be pointless to make several units to accomplish the same goal because then you might as well make two transports and two aircraft carriers to do the same job, and they'd move faster and be cheaper than to build the various sections of this monstrosity.

On the other hand, you can make it so that the thing is as tough as nails and really can take a pounding, which could make it good as an aircraft carrier. I mean, its not really representing a ship, its representing a FLEET.

Otherwise, I don't see much use for it...

Ahhh drat i wanted it to be able to carry aircraft and ground troops darn.

Would something like this do? Mobile offshore base, complete with Civ colors!

I could animate it a little: water movement and radar rotating.
