Unit Request - Scythed chariot

Well, lots of propositions.

As I said, my first idea was someone to simply model the "spikes" (!) and copy/paste it to the standard chariot.

Of course the recent propositions seem much more interesting. A few things though:

- it definitely should be Persian (and replace the immortals as a UU BTW).
- I think two horses should be enough. As Kryten mentionned they were mostly used "as is" (though maybe not in that suicidal a way) and not so much as an archer base. So it does not need to be so big and with so many horses.
- About my copying/pasting. I am really crap at graphics and would probably create a disaster (for my Egyptian unit I basically draw everything (not so much though) every time and that shows :( ) and my evaluation period for PSP will end before I will be able to finish it. I might try to do a slinger since it seems nobody ever tried to do one if I have the time but a chariot is too much for me. Or there is a real good teacher at PSP copy/paste here because I did not quite get the tutorial.
- about the attack maybe to make it run and turn right/left/right/left... since it is a kind of "chasing" unit ? Just an idea...

So basically it is up to you REAL unit designers. Depend on your time, ressources, inspiration and skills.

I think it should be a two-horse chariot, otherwise it'll be too frickin' big. Four horses, a box and two-three people take up a lot of space!

Well, I didn't tell you :nono:
But have you already heard of time warp? Suppose you can go back in time, let say 2 months? It would mean you still have 60 days to evaluate PSP

Well, I made a chariot that someone can cut-and-paste with if they want to. It's pretty basic, but could look nice with some horses and a driver.

You are quite right utahjazz7.

I tried that "running-on-the-spot" animation when I made that Eastern Horse Archer (I wanted to make them shoot their arrows at the gallop, and not with the standard Civ3 "standing-on-the-spot-shooting-forwards" animation).
It looked AWFUL!
("Too much realism Kryten, too much realism")

Soooo......."I'll leave it with you people". ;)
I disagree, I thought it looked cool. :)

Actually you can get atleast 90 days of free use of PSP
I had trial versions of PSP for allmost 85 days before I bought it
Just search for older versions of PSP and use those when your lisence runs out
You can load files .pcx files whit older versions PSP atleast back to version 5.0

That is a very nice scythe chariot utahjazz7. :)
It would be a pitty to waste it.
I would like to take on this project.

However, at the moment I am wrapped-up with creating the first multi-figure units, so won't be able to start working on this for at least two weeks.

Should anyone else wish to have a go, then please do.
Say the word and I'll post all the horse animations here.

I agree with Kal-el, it would be easy to cut out the War Chariot´s horses.

Hmmm.....maybe.
Actually, I'd like to use the wheels off of the Civ3 Cannon and have 4 horses with scale chest armour (see the first picture on page one of this thread).

The only 2 horsed chariot in the game at the moment has loads of pretty feathers on the horses head.
Wouldn't using different horses make the unit look 'different'? ;)

Yes, that is possible....but it is much more work than just slapping new horses in the front of a new chariot, and it would still look like an Egyptian War Chariot, just without the feathers.
(Remove the feathers....remove the driver.....remove the chariot....just to leave the horses! A lot of work. :crazyeye:
It's much easier to add things with cut-'n-paste than it is to take things away.)

Very good. I can't think of anyone better to do it than you. Plus, I'm glad that I didn't waste my time making it. ;) Good luck. :D

Also, feel free to remove the flag if it looks like it will get in the way of the immortal's arm and sword. I wouldn't mind in the least.

But I don't think you (whoever is doing this unit) should use the immortal, as that already has been used in the eastern pikeman and the arab horseman.

I totally agree. He should wear a helmet and a heavy protection.

And since I am back. BUMP !

And thanks Steph for the :nono: I always forget that...

Well.....that was only a quick preview.

As I said, with luck I'd like it to be just like that first 4-horsed picture on page one of this thread (armoured driver, armoured horses, and 4 of them!). :)
