Unit Request Thread 3

Is there anyone who can convert a civilization 4 unit to civilization 3 unit? This is a what if the French built the Danton class semi dreadnoughts as dreadnought type ships. Also, I had found this on site.

I think Delta_Strife created the original French pre-dreadnought of the Danton class with only 4 x 30,5 cm guns and 12 x 24 cm guns, while here a what-if dreadnought armament of 12 x 30,5 cm is demanded. Please have a look on the number of the gun towers in the middle part of the ship. The fantasy ship in the image of Joenavy has only 4 (heavy) gun towers in that middle part, while the original Danton by Delta_Strife had 6 (24 cm) gun towers in the middle part.

Actually, now that I think about it. What is wrong with submitting a unit that is already in the database? I think it's a good idea to have multiple authors submit the same unit as that gives us modders and players options to play with.

Remember how when we were little boys we would play with our toy cars. I must have had three different Ford Mustangs. One from Matchbox, one from Hot Wheels, and one from another maker that escapes me now. I loved all of the versions of the same toy car.
 
The ship demanded is not in the database.

Iteration has only ever been beneficial in the long run. Can you imagine if we only had ripptide's library to work with? :shifty:
 
Thank you for the reply. I did download the Danton. The attached files is from the civ 4 downloads. It is based on the Danton with 6 twin 12 inch turrets instead of two 12 inch twin turrets and 6 9.2 inch twin turrets. It is also on the game world of warships. Known as the

Delta_Strife is an absolute stickler for detail. If an aircraft has 6 MGs, and a variant has 8, he'll do both, even though that level of detail can't possibly be visible in-game.
 
We have a wide variety of bombing and explosion animations to choose from: rocket salvos, single missile strike, AGM strike, MOABs, LGBs, Daisy Cutters, Torpedoes, strafe, stafe+bombs combined, impact explosions. But most of them are suitable for air unit victories. Cruise Missile units only have the stock game explosion and impact explosions for death animation as graphics designed for air units travel at a horizontal angle to simulate a bombing/strafing run instead of exploding from the center.

Vuldacon's fireball explosion serves well as an airburst explosion for now. This means you could take any unit that doesn't have a diving down animation and turn it kamikaze by using the non impact explosion as its attack animation. I then can use different explosion graphics for the death animation ranging from regular impact explosions to chemical attack or even flak (to simulate air bursting cluster munitions). But having dedicated airburst graphics with fragmentations would be nice.

We could also use some cluster munition graphics for both air unit and cruise missile victories. We currently have the sound for cluster munitions exploding. It's used together with the rocket salvo animation the victory for Tornado IDS units, which works well. But a dedicated graphics where the main bomb opens up releasing the bomblets to have them slowly rain down and explode firecracker style would be cool.
 
Does anybody have a working version of Imperator's Vietnamese Double Elephant Crossbow? I wanted to use it for my Khmer UU, but every time I add it, the mod won't load. Once I remove it, the mod loads again. Since Imperator isn't active anymore, I thought I'd see if somebody had a successful fix.
 
What error do you get?
When I go to Civ Content to launch the mod, then click on my mod, before the next screen loads (choose your world) the progress bar freezes at 76% and won't get any further. I'll try downloading again or maybe change the name or something and see what I can figure out.

Well I made units other way. Yes, it has a long name, so you may rename it's folder name AND it's .ini file in that folder to something short.

Well I'd say that:
- Resources are diverted from making the units that do not exist in any variations;
- It makes it difficult to try all of them. You will probably like one or two variations, maybe the one that matches the most units in your scenario or the one that is much better than others;
- In some cases the 3D model used in making the unit is the same and the difference is only in size, animations and other preferences of the Unit Maker. Having the same unit but with say different painting scheme or recognizable details by different makers would not hurt though;

I still stick to some of his units to be honest. It's a pity that he was not as productive as Wyrmshadow.
 
  1. Go to "Search" (upper right on screen.)
  2. Select "Advanced Search."
  3. Select "Search Resources" from the top bar.
  4. Scroll down the page to "Search in categories:"
  5. Select "Civ3 - Unit Graphics."
  6. Now go back up to "Keywords" and enter "Ripptide"
  7. Click "Search" and you'll find quite a few re-uploads, including re-colorings by @Ares de Borg.

He has his magnificent Unit Packs placed scattershot among the wrong categories (Renaissance Units under Fantasy, etc.) Also, no Resources show up on his User Page & they can no longer be found via Search. Although I don't expect a reply, I asked him if he wouldn't mind them being properly reorganized. I have all of his stuff bookmarked and, if I don't hear back from him in a couple of weeks, I'll go through my list & ask one of the Mods to reorg them.
 
Hello, good and first of all, thank you for the provision of this thread.

It's the first time I see it and I speak little English so I apologize for the bad Google translations...

I would like to have all the units of Civilization 2 Gold Edition available for civilization 3, I have some of other mods such as the Archer, Frigate, Destroyer and Battleship, I know that this is a big job and requires a lot of time and commitment to do so within your possibilities and time. If anyone already has them or knows where to get them, please comment. I don't need the audios because I already have all of them originals. I hope this helps ease the request a little if you accept it. I'm not asking for a 100% rush at your pace until the request is almost approved.

I can search up his stuff just fine. Though not in a targeted manner. For example, if you type "mortar" in search his mortar units still show up.
