Do you really want to have the Civ 2 unit graphics in your Civ 3 mod or are you only not finding the Civ 3 units equivalent to those Civ 2 units ?Hello, good and first of all, thank you for the provision of this thread.
It's the first time I see it and I speak little English so I apologize for the bad Google translations...
I would like to have all the units of Civilization 2 Gold Edition available for civilization 3, I have some of other mods such as the Archer, Frigate, Destroyer and Battleship, I know that this is a big job and requires a lot of time and commitment to do so within your possibilities and time. If anyone already has them or knows where to get them, please comment. I don't need the audios because I already have all of them originals. I hope this helps ease the request a little if you accept it. I'm not asking for a 100% rush at your pace until the request is almost approved.
Thank you so much. All the best.
The only Civ2 unit I don't think I've seen represented in Civ3 is the Alpine (ski) Troops. There was a palette hack in MiChello's WWII but that was very much an early-2000s vintage.Do you really want to have the Civ 2 unit graphics in your Civ 3 mod or are you only not finding the Civ 3 units equivalent to those Civ 2 units ?
Yes, I played Civilization 2 Gold Editon for more than 15 years and I have great affection for it and I would like to have those units represented even if they do not move in Civ3, in my mod for example: I have edited in the armies the "ha ha ha" of the army replaced by the original sound of the civ2 catapult and it looks very good.Do you really want to have the Civ 2 unit graphics in your Civ 3 mod or are you only not finding the Civ 3 units equivalent to those Civ 2 units ?
I fear you have to try this yourself. This can be done with 1 frame animations in flicster. Shay Roberts in the Age of Piracy scenario (no longer available) did 4 frame animations to mark the moving direction of the units. Attached is the galleon so you can see how such a unit is constructed.Yes, I played Civilization 2 Gold Editon for more than 15 years and I have great affection for it and I would like to have those units represented even if they do not move in Civ3, in my mod for example: I have edited in the armies the "ha ha ha" of the army replaced by the original sound of the civ2 catapult and it looks very good.
AnthonyBoscia even created Finnish and German ski troopers for Civ 3: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/infantry-units-1900-present.625540/#post-14948583The only Civ2 unit I don't think I've seen represented in Civ3 is the Alpine (ski) Troops.
Great!, I have that mod, but despite that I still need many more.I fear you have to try this yourself. This can be done with 1 frame animations in flicster. The M110 already takes the place of the flavor unit for heavy SP howitzers parallel to the Pion. If I use the M110A2 as the SP Heavy Gun then what will take its place? The M110 is the only CW NATO high caliber SP howitzer left. The T92 SP howitzer maybe? It does pass for an early M110 without the muzzle brake. Funny how the T92 and the Pion are 30 years apart. But I guess that will do. The Soviets were slow on developing SP artillery post ww2.Wyrmshadow created several very nice M110 units.
The M110 and the M107 aside from the different armament, were essentially the same vehicle. The M107 shared many components with, and in many cases was replaced by, later versions of the M110 203 mm (8.0 in) howitzer. So I think that in the scale of Civ 3 it shouldn´t be a big problem to use the M110 unit even for the M107, especially as there are several different coloured M110 units existing. The M110 already takes the place of the flavor unit for heavy SP howitzers parallel to the Pion. And the Navarone cannons as a prototype of coastal defense for cities?, with a double rate of fire with medium range and great power.I'm having different lines of artillery: Howitzers with less bombard value and ROF of 3. Longer range guns with ROF of 2 but higher bombard value to represent their longer range and greater aptitude towards direct fire in real life. It would be nice to have more heavy guns. Gwendoline has made quite a few guns like the GPF and a couple of generic heavy guns along with the Koksan. Wyrm has made the Long Tom, the Br-2 (though he labelled it the "Br-4 mortar" it certainly had the barrel proportion of a gun) and the A-19 122mm gun. Anthony Boscia has made the 2s5 Giatsint. Right now western flavor units I'm using the Koksan as the heavy long range SPG. But the cold war M107 would be nice to have.
Drones are meant to be used as air units. Are you looking to use drones as regular and not cruise missile artillery? I'm afraid no one has made such graphics yet. You'd need something like a drone operator launching them as attack animation. Is there an Artillery unit that has all the animation graphics of what a Drone operator would look like when bombarding?
I see the drone unit, but when assigned as Artillery, the animation just stays in place and looks a bit awkward.
Yes, exactly like that regular artillery with drone operators that can be attack on the ground. I like how the AI uses artillery units now with C3X, moving them up to the front lines and bombarding. Figured it would be cool to have a Drone like artillery unit for the graphics.Drones are meant to be used as air units. Are you looking to use drones as regular and not cruise missile artillery? A stop gap solution would be to use the run animation as fortify. An land artillery unit will execute its fortify animation before its attack animation when it bombards. So you'd have the drone running and then shooting its missiles.Yes, exactly like that regular artillery with drone operators that can be attack on the ground.
