i really want that unit done. now i have four weeks to next exam, so i´m gonna take up the work with it now.:)

yes winter,

That is it alright, someone should create such a unit for terraforming or whatever it should do in Civ3. :) :D

Im working on a Apocalyptic Scenario for Civ III - one along the lines of several others I have seen for civ II.

The unit I need is a sort of combination unit - it will be a mixed settler/worker/scout unit.

Im basing this unit on the vehical seen in the Movie Damnation Alley or the OLD TV show ARK II from the mid 70's.

Im going to post some links to pictures :

from these photos I think you can get an idea of what Im thinking about.

I really would do this myself BUT I dont have enough artistic talent to draw my way out of a paper bag.

any help on this unit would be greatly appreciated.

Ok - Im posting a second unit that I need for my apocalypse scenario -

Its a car - sort of like the souped-up - but trashed cards from all those end-of-the-world movies that everyone loves to hate.

Some pictures :

The Infantry in the Game seems to be of Vietnam times, with slight changes one could improve it (laser view, visor on helmet, cammo, modern weapons?)- One thing I never understood in Civ3 is how can one draft Mech Infantry ??? I mean: People Ok- but draft machines- what? Do we have em at home in the basement in case of war or sth- therefore I believe one should be able to expand on foot units without having bionic borg-like robo beasts ;)

YES! I was just thinking about this the other day when playing modern times in Civ.

I want this unit!

Some others I want that have been mentionedJ:

Description: One link in the development of modern equipment I felt was missing was the M60A3 tank or the T-72.

One type of infantry that I felt was sorely missing from the game was the Flintlock Musketman. These infantry ruled the ground from the late 1600's to the early 1800's.

One of those Ballistic Missile subs too!

These would be great!

Minute Man (American Revolution): i Think this would be a lot better american UU: a Musketman with draft ability, i've been using the frengh Musketeer whenever i mod this in my games but i'd like to see a animation of it's own. of course you also have to make draft ability available by gunpowder for this to be effective.

Here's an idea. A non-nuclear aircraft carrier. Civ 3 has modern aircraft carriers, but I'd like to have earlier smaller carriers, perhaps from WWII, and move the current carrier to Fission, and add capacity so it won't be limited to hold just four planes.

Yes, I've secretly been hoping someone would make a modern infantryman. I conceive mech. infantry in the game as a protective, mobile vehicle carrying my actual, normally slow-moving modern infantrymen unit animations into battle, the way it should be.

Imagine, vehicles carrying, say... 3 guys, unloading them onto the field to join the fight!

Now that we starting to get some futuristic units any chance one of you talented unit makers can create one of the big battleoids, we have a Gundam and some of the Walkers but it would really nice to have a huge heavy mech like a Battlemaster, Archer, or Phalanx.

What I would really like would be some kind of modern pirate unit like the one I saw on "Scandals". There were a few armed men on a speedboat, on had a rocket launcher.

I remember having a toy years ago of one of those Mechs... So I'm giving the Phalanx a try. I've posted a preview in the main creation forum. By the way GhengisFarb, just where do these Mechs come from... what game/comic universe?

Most of these mechs diverged into their distinctive designs with a plastic model series be Revell called Robotech(you can still find some of the kits on Ebay). They had "changers" that could transform from a plane to a Gundam type called "Guardian mode" and there were specialized mechs for heavy fighting, space combat, underwater, etc. There were support models that picked up wounded mechs and a special "Airborne Assault" unit that could attach to a mech allow it to attack by air.

Would it be possible for someone to make a whole slew of units based upon captures from the Fallout games? There's a utility out there that will extract the sprites, and there are SEVERAL different walking, running, attacking, dying, etc movements for SEVERAL units. It seems like a unit goldmine, especially if someone wanted to create a Fallout scenario.

This is not a request for a new unit per se, but I wish the sinking sequences for triremes and caravels due to the danger of crossing sea and ocean squares would be more in line with the general perceptions of the day. When a trireme or caravel sinks in this way the graphic sequence should show a giant sea-serpant or maybe a huge squid dragging it under (maybe followed by a belching sound). I think it would enhance the shock effect while adding some comic relief to an event I think is disliked intensely. Note that this would not neccesarily turn Civ into a fantasy game but it would add a mythological touch to antiquity and the middle ages.

it's a very good idea ! but the problem is that there's only one death animation , we could change it , but when a trirem will be crushed by another one , i t will death the same ( with squid or giant sea snake ) , if someone find a way to diversify the units deaths...

Try setting the squid unit I made as the default barbarian sea unit... It makes the early eras a little more interesting when a sea monster takes out your boat on it's first voyage out to sea... If we can't make alternate death animations this is close.
