I think a good idea would be the F-22 Raptor. Future stealth fighter that would replace the jet fighter. Now I know that civ3 has a stealth fighter (F-117) but in fact it is not an actual fighter as it is used only in bombing missions by the US Air force. The F-22 would be able to work like the jet fighter and also have the cabability of stealth. I have no idea how difficult it would be to make it so I attached the best pictures that I found on the net. Any further info about the plane right me back to this thread.

I don't know if anyone has worked on one yet, but I believe a second carrier is a must in this game... anyone do one yet?
 
I belive that we already have some one working on an british escort carrier. I would like a harrier jump jet and mabe make it movible and air to represent its ability to land almost anywhere like a helicopter. I also agree that a f-22 would be awsuom. Mabe with smart wepens insted uf stelth but add a new resorce that only comes wiht stelth that it and all other stelth units need.
 
I don't think getting planes is to much of a problem, mainly being that you can only have a couple different types of planes. Either a fighter or a bomber. Other then that what else could you possibly have?

But I do love a good naval war, one reason I downloaded the missile boat and can't wait for a second carrier =)
 
What I think we need to do, or the game needs to do... is be more unique specific. What I mean by this is giving the AI a chance to use some of these neat units and increasing some of the boundaries.

Take for example the fact that you can only make planes "rebase" and not act like they did in civ2 without some side effects.

Or another example is the lack of recon range and bombarding/flying range.

I think this is a great game no doubt. But, perhaps if we could add more unique attributes then what we are given. Just my take.
 
I have know idea of what the 4:th parameter would be, but many wants this and that. Right now we can create different units only by the looks, new grafx, not by adding unique abilities or change the stats in a way that make them unique.

Yea I agree, we need certain unique attributes kindof like how the subs are and the cruisers... other then that we don't have anything.
 
Any idea of the 4:th parameter could be???? I mean we can have 50 different gfx on one unit but the same stats, so what the point.... oh, if I think... Yeah, I would rather kick ass with a JAS 39 Gripen then the F-15! But there+s more than that right????

I haven't any ideas hmmm....

On planes the 4th parameter could be stealthness. With actually Stealth fighters ranked 10, and Bombers ranked 1... And an increased in range, bombardment... so on

For tanks I have no idea. Land units should have specfics with them. Like a tank would never be stealthly or capable of moving through mountains. While a soldiar could be stealth and move through mountains. Umm... perhaps a radar utility.

Other then that, I'd have to give it more thought.
 
Artillery could have range, accuracy, and strength I believe. Not to mention it's ability to attack of defend.

Tanks could have something of the same as artillary with accuracy and strength.
 
I believe in any civ game, the more parameters you have the more "real" and fun the game would become.

I think more parameteres need to be made on specfic units, not to units in general like we have mentioned.

And most importantly the AI has to become more "human." It has to learn why it should diversfy units. Why it should use mines... And it also has to learn history and how history relates to this game.

People don't go to war in real life like they do in the game. Go to war, take two cities then sign a treaty. Repeat, repeat, repeat... But for the most part I like the game... just a few problems...
 
Yea, i agree ... take one or two cities and you have your CT. But I dont think that Firaxis can make an AI that thinks like an UN or NATO nation (or ANZAC). The AI is 1 and 0, to be able to get the real challenge we ahve to wait for the MP. And hope that there isnt any major bugs....

But, to make more units.... we need more stats!!!! Right?

can we agreed on that??

I actually think the countries can act like a "NATO". In one game I constantly helped out Japan which was a small island nation at the time. Pumping cash into its system and technology. Whenever I went to war I could count on Japan as helping me. In fact over the whole game I don't think Japan ever turned down something I asked for, and the same went the other way around.

So if say the #2 and #3 ranked countries did that to the #1 ranked country... bingo.

And yes we do agree that we need more stats to make more units, by far more stats!
 
I think we are going OT here but,
Does civs always act like they are a part of a union? No, as I´ve seen in many threads here, nations can attack for no reason. But thats not what we should take up here... the fact is, we can have this going on and on for a long time and yet only have 3 parameters to set for a UU! Why?
This game has the greatest potential I ever seen and it can only get better so I hope that in the Future get units with more stats so we can make more units.... did I get off the line here???

I agree that a unit must have more then 3 parameters. Not to mention specific attributes like stealth and radar. And each unit must have different parameters (bombard) as well as common parameters (movement).

If we have just 3 parameters, then we'd only need 3 units, one that is superior in each.

What do you think... it seems you think the same. Great minds think alike =)
 
Thats right.... but how do we put this in to reality, i don´t think Firaxis will ever do this (to much work, if they only have one guy on the editor) to put this in to the game.
But I´m glad that is more than me who think like this....

3 para ... 3 units, one each superior!!!! Excatly...

So, putting up 15 diffirent gfx on one tank wont do it, right.
