***Unit Request Thread***

I would like to see someone do a Fv 101 Scimitar/ Scorpion. It is a British Light tank mounting a 76mm or 90mm gun. Also in the same family of vehicles is a IFV mounting a 20mm cannon. Would be neat to have an alternative to The MBT for the weak civs I cant seem to quit playing.

Also for the World War II era, how about the french Souma S-35 and Char B1-Bis tanks for those of us who dont enjoy playing with
anything relating to the nazi era.

it would be interesting , it's a very small tank ! , it could be a cheap alternative armoured unit for poor civilizations.


i've also finished modeling the south african G6 self-propelled artillery.Some previews ( i choose this vehicle because he has an original design , but if you prefer a more conventionnal one , just tell me , there's no problem making another later )

oh, and just one word , i know it's not the place for having political purposes , but it's important to say. I'm drawing tanks and others military stuffs but i'm not militaristic. I like history , technology and design. It's a game.That's all. Why do i say this ? Well...What happened yesterday during the french election is a real shame for me. Extremists never resolve any problem.And i'm very sad for my country.

I guess I could of said that better. No political offense meant at all. And I don't have any problem with people that are interested in the nazi regime and its weapons.

I, however find it more enjoyabe to play the sides that put an end to them.

Did I hear you right, you use Maya for making your 3D models?
How much does that cost? I am an art graduate with some small tallent for 3D design ( my units are posted on this site, so you might disagree with the previous coment) and when ever I see advertisements for 3d design work it always says Maya experience essential.
My degree is in fine art (vidieo, print making, painting etc.) and the only programs we used at colledge were photoshop, after effects and Ilustrator. I'm not sure that I can afford Maya, but do you think I could lie and say I do know how to use it. I know most other 3d programs, and those I have not used before I can usualy master in a day or two (I am quite computer design literate).

Oh yeah, my request is for some American infantry, I saw your jeep and thought the GIs were great, in mod design continuity is everything, so if the american infantry were done by the same person who did the jeep it would give them a great coherent look.
I have only got the 3D program that comes with corel photopaint 8 to work with at the moment and while it is O.K. for mechanical design, the humans I make suck eggs.

Hello Smoking mirror , don't worry , your units are nice

Well, Maya is expensive ,but it's really the most powerfull 3d soft. the best modeler , mapper and animator in fact. 3ds max is the most popular in game-design , but once you've touched maya , you can't go back to another program.

i made a fine art school too ( illustrations ), and i had a one year animator formation on Maya , in a Paris school. when i discovered the power of such a tool , i've decided to become cgi graphist. The strenght of Maya is his great , efficient and powerfull interface that allows very fast and intuitive modeling.
If you are familiar with 3d soft , this wouldn't be a problem to use it. But Maya is so rich that you surely need 2 years to have an overview of all his abilities.
If you want to train with it , you can download a free license of maya ...with no time limitations !( Alias/Wavefront want to diffuse their soft , it's the result of a new marketing politic, wich is a fantastic news for all cgi apprentice ) But your rendered pictures are marked . I think that's all.

Modern Unit

Request: Amphibious Assault Ship

Unit: Sea

Description: The largets naval transports in the world are amphibious assault ships. These can carry almost 40,000 tons worth of equipment. They are large and bulky, and resemble the old WWII carriers as they provide helicopter and vertical landing and take off support to invasion shore parties. They have a significant armament with air and surface rocket launchers, 20mm and 30mm guns, and a veriety of 7.62 MG's and anti tank weaponary. It deploys units from the rear.

Comments: The current naval transport is based upon the WWII style landing craft. These units carry 8 land units and for their size this is far to many in my opinion, as each of these units represents a large group. So my plan is to use the Amphibious assault ship as the heavy naval transport for delivery of large parties, while making it suseptable to attack and assault. While the landing craft unit in the game already will become a lighter naval transport that is faster for surprise invasions.

Did you mean the election of Le Pen (not sure about the name) as a canidate or were you refering to the protests. Being from America I hear very little about the outside world that isn't slanted one way or another and I was just wondering. The news always makes every protest out to be a riot and every protestor as an Anarchist bent on destruction, so I thought maybe the protestor's could've been the 'extremists' you mentioned... Just a question.

French people have a short memory...they better remember what happened in town owned by Le Pen's party. Cultural centres closed, censured movies, omnipresent police, etc...
I like the Europe idea , but this guy want to isolate France, close the frontiers and drive away all "non-french" people !

France situation is not good for 2 weeks !

And i don't know if it has been asking before but me I would want a "Conquistador" and (no link ) and anti-grav Tank (especially it) like CTP anti-grav tank.

Womoks, now what you should do is keep editing your first post with the list of unit requests and which ones have been filled yet.
If people want details of the requests, they can scroll down. But at least if there is a list of requested units in the first post, people won't have to review the entire thread to see if their particular request has been made or not.

Great idea turning the SA G6 into a CIV unit!!!!
Have expierenced the weapon first hand, and it is really a nice machine (and battle tested!).
How is it's developm. as a CIV 3 unit getting along.

Another thing that would be nice include in the game would be the British Mk V (WWI) Tank - when I first played CIV 3 it did strike me that the ealy part of an important weapons history was lacking pityfully. I'm sure others must have thought along the same lines.

One strangely overlooked unit I'd really love to see: Siege Tower or Siege Engine. Reason I say strangely overlooked, is that not only is there no Civ3 unit, but I never saw it in CTP, CTP2, AoE, AoK, and many other games that should have it. They were the keys to conquering cities for a very long time, much more so than the ever popular Catapult.

Also, the graphics of units that were in other games will eventually find their way to this game, as we're already starting to see. So all the more reason someone makes this one, cos it can't be grabbed from somewhere else.

It should be like Catapult, but more powerful and much more expensive, plus actually have some defense. Be afraid when you see one of these coming.
