Modern Unit

Request: A10 Thunderbolt (Warthog)

Unit: Air

Description: the A10 Thunderbolt is a versatile airplane that is designed to travel at lower speeds to attack ground targets. It carries up to 16,000 lbs of armament and specializes in attacking tanks and other various ground targets. It is a faster varient of the Gunship (attack Helicopter) but provides a slow enough speed to be able to conduct detailed recons, and precision attacks using dumb weapons.

Comments: This unit was originally provided by Santo67 and he should be given proper credit. However he has said of recent that he will no longer be working on this project since unit creation really isn't his thing. I was hoping someone would pick up the reigns and finish this nicely made unit. I plan this unit to have less movement then the Attack Helicopter but able to travel in a larger operational range. Its bombardment would be similier but its rate of fire would differ. It would be specialized in attacking ground targets, while providing an aspect of movement beyond its range of operation.

Early Modern Unit

Request: M60A3/T-72 Tank

Unit: Land

Description: One link in the development of modern equipment I felt was missing was the M60A3 tank or the T-72. These peices of equipment were the fore runners of military technology during the contemporary modern times from 1960 - 1980. Though I think this units time frame is to small to include in the normal run of the mill games. A scenario that crosses over 1950 - 2050 I believe would require such a unit. The U.S. M60A3 or its Russian counterpart the T-72 were both significantly different in design then their predecessors, building the blocks for more modern versions. They both had 105mm guns which could use both HEAT and SABOT rounds, it also had a 7.62 machine gun and a .50 cal anti aircraft gun on the latter versions. I think it would fill a gap for those mods that require a tank to fit inbetween those of WWII and the modern versions we see today.

Comments: This animation I am posting was originally provided by someone, though I cna't remember who. Give me some time and I'll sort it out, but they should be given proper credit. It is an animation of a M60 tank, however it could easily be made a T-72 or even a T-55 tank.

I would like a UFO flying saucer unit. Shouldn't be that hard to make.

You read my mind hzm. I'm at this very moment halfway through a UFO unit... I have the move and default, and half the death animations... Shouldn't take me too long to finish up with that and do the attack... Gimme a day or two and I'll post it for everyone.

More Medieval Units! That Trebucht was great! Don't mind my spelling.;)

Speaking of more medieval units, a Crossbowman would be great. There's a good Age of Kings unit graphic for this - I wonder if it could be transferred over.

Has anybody done the Janissary or Champion units from AoE? I would really appreciate it for a mod I'm doing. Thanks for all the great units done already - I'm envious of your talents!

:goodjob:

Hi Womoks and everybody,

I have realised that one reason Firaxis did not include more variety in their modern sea units was that there is a problem with balancing units sufficiently so as to make them "better" than another one- in the case of the battleship, well it really NEWER becomes obsolete since we don't have a flag for "defend 2x vs. Air Attacks" as in civ2... The other reason is purely based on them wanting fans to create them :D and I think one can well make UUs along the development chain to symbolise different civs and their strenghs and weaknesses...

Description: 941 AKULA CLASS (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/slbm/941.htm) Ballistic Submarine

During the Cold War the Typhoon submarines prowled the waters of the North Atlantic. These submarines do not have to submerge or go to sea to launch their long-range missiles. They are able to do so tied up at their docks. The Typhoon is the world’s largest submarine and was one of the most feared weapons of the Cold War. Each submarine is capable of carrying twenty long-range ballistic missiles with up to 200 nuclear warheads that were once aimed at the United States.

I don't know what this little guy could be used for but I though this would be a funny death animation. :)

Info: The last frame is a static picture from someone's website.I played around and made it into an animation. I am just starting on this whole graphics thing so I haven't made anything original yet. I used PSP 7 and lots of time. My job does have some upsides to it. :D Oh, I am telling you all this as I don't want credit for the actual artwork of the character.

Here it is again with some facial expression added in:

Yet another request- actually three in one, since I think, the first one is relatively easy to do...

Unit 1: German WWII UBoot Typ VII (Top pic)
(Don't think we need a lenghty introduction on this one ;) the existing sub model is quite similar in general shape, however lacks originality)

Unit 2: Post-War German UBoot Typ 205/206 (Top Right Pic)
After almost all WWII futuristic sub designs such ad the Type XIX were destroyed or scuttled so as not no fall into enemy hands the German navy had to start from scratch, developing improved subs based on older designs- the result a small, manouverable diesel boat... (I think this one is very good to distinguish due to the prominent frontal sonar)

Unit 3: Modern German UBoot/Submarine Hybrid Typ 212/214 (Botton 3 Pics)
Most sofisticated electrical driven sub to date (launched 2002 !!!!) - also a German design using the diesels only for in-port manouvers- able to stay submerged almost undetected for up to two months- more silent than cold war big boomers... Modern hunter-killer with the ability to carry missiles, etc

The Infantry in the Game seems to be of Vietnam times, with slight changes one could improve it (laser view, visor on helmet, cammo, modern weapons?)- One thing I never understood in Civ3 is how can one draft Mech Infantry ??? I mean: People Ok- but draft machines- what? Do we have em at home in the basement in case of war or sth- therefore I believe one should be able to expand on foot units without having bionic borg-like robo beasts ;)

Depicted are: Modern German Panzergrenadier (left) and Modern US Airborne (right)

God ! So much units to do !! :crazyeye:

Welcome :), and sorry :(, had my creative phase today (wuz thinking long time what unit to post, sinc everybody seems to have one or two in mind)... by all means, its just a wishlist (although if U really get to do them that 'd be awesome Womoks!!!) :king: :king: :king:

I have watched on TV, a truly massive machine that tears into the ground and has a massive conveyor belt on the top to move dirt. Has anyone seen it? The one i saw was in germany and i think is used to mine. It travels on MASSIVE tracks. Anyways, if anyone has any pics of this please post them here. If put in the game it could be used in the same way as the workers (or to just build mines) in the modern age.

I hope other unit creators look at this thread because this is just to many requests to handle for womoks. Anyhow...

Middle Age Unit

Unit: Flintlock Musketman

Request: One type of infantry that I felt was sorely missing from the game was the Flintlock Musketman. These infantry ruled the ground from the late 1600's to the early 1800's. They used flintlock muskets to fire upon one another and are often refered to as the last of classic warfare. It was a time of "gentlemans" warfare which slightly resembled the reserve warfare of ancient times.

Comments: This unit was originally begun by Animepornstar for his Swedish mod. However, he has is long and gone from this place and many have waited for a very long time for his unit to be completed. I was hoping some one could do it as he provided an excellent base for creation of a unit sought after by many.
