***Unit Request Thread***

Although I agree they look similar and I have downloaded your E-3A Sentry, I still think there needs to be a separate unit for the Tupolev Tu-126 Moss because green is a US army colour. Tupolev Mosses as far as I know were not coloured green. They were coloured in grey or silver but as I said there would need to be research into that one, for any possible scenario. I was just thinking that in a scenario your Boeing E-3A Sentry should be matched against a Tupolev Tu-126 Moss of about the right colour, with lesser sight capabilities. This lesser sight range indicates the fact that a Tupolev Tu-126 Moss has inferior equipment to the Boeing E-3A Sentry.

It's not that I am being difficult or anything but I think that the Boeing E-3A Sentry is a little bit bigger than the Tupolev Tu-126 Moss but I'm comfortable with the scale change. I think that the Moss looks like the dish is in a different position plus it has an aerial out the front which is different from on the Boeing E-3A Sentry, however, maybe you could give the Moss some defensive ability to represent the screen of Migs or other fighters that would normally surround it. Just a thought that that would be how it is done. As for performance and radar range it would have a slightly lesser range and radar capabilities. Can you make something a UU for more than one Civ because if you could, give all the NATO ones Boeing E-3A Sentries and all the Warsaw Pact Nations the Tupolev Tu-126 Moss.

over here in the corner yes me the guy waveing his hands

i would like a new airborn carrier kinda futureist maybe some guns

Hi everybody:

Mostly following requests of other people here so it could be calld some reinforcement... :)

I'm making new rebalanced version of Balanced Population ad Costs Mod.

Now it will include two lines for Infantry = offencive/defencive and Artillery(archers included) long range/short range

So, I got a lack of graphicks listed below:

Inf:

Historically correct Legio animation needed - main weapon of legionaries was throwing spear called pila not a sword...

Same with Hipaspist - if some one will make a version with medium spear (longer than for Javelliner, but shorter then for Hoplite) it will be nice...

Crossbowman fix needed - cross imaging bug present when defending.

Russian Strelets unit needed - was not requested yet. High trained, but not numerous...

Animation for musketman offencive alternative needed (musketinfantry alredy used for Fusillier and FrenchInfantry for Offencive alternative with workname Choosenman)

Marine unit with carbine needed for early industrial age marine called Naval Brigade - there were cavalry carbines as standard arms those time...

Soviet infantry with rifles needed for WWII time russian Infatry - it planned cheep and numerous, but with lower stats then standard infantry.

WWII Tommy Gunners anymation needed - for unit with te same name. At the first year of WWII in soviet army tommy gunners companies (about 100 soldiers in each) were special military units distributed to frontlines by Stalin personally...

Later soviet infantry armed with AK or AKM (does no matter) needed. same as upper - more numerous, but weaker then western analog.

Cav:

Retinue (Russian Medium Cavalry - Knight analog a bit weaker, but more fast unit)

Dragoons needed - there is a unit with this name but... Dragoons never were light cavalry like noted in Units Library, they were primary medium cavalry and they can't be build without saltpeter, cause historically they were "armed with muskets and could be used as infantry if needed". In the poorest case there was 16 muskets for each 50 men and most af other have pistols in addition to cold steel... Heavy cav. - cuirassiers were mostly armed as dragoons, but in addition had a cuirass defending soldier body in melee...

Art:

Machinegun needed - industrial Age WWI Field ruler (till first tanks came to scene of course..)

Tanks:

Pz III (Germ)
Matilda IIA (Eng)
Chi He (Japan)
M4A2

M60
T-72 or T-90 (Rus)- some one asked alredy I'm joining.

Chellenger
A6EX
M1A2 "Abrams"
Type - 90 (Jap)

Planes

B-52 Stratofortress WWII time

La-5

This request goes out to Jimmyh or anybody else who works with AOK files. There is one unit I need really badly from AOK.The Samurai (the civ one doesn’t have amour). Please do this one next, pretty please.

Numidian Cavalry units (african horseman with lightbrown horse)

A smaller carrier unit (a Light Carrier)

and a medieval Men-at-Arms unit w/ small triangular shield and longsword. Parts from the knight and swordsman could perhaps be used here.

Most of these might seem off the wall, but what the hell? :p

Dragons: Yeah, it's a little strange. Anyone ever seen Reign of Fire? Horrible movie, but a great idea for a modern scenario. Instead of Barbarian camps, have dragon roosts instead with powerful beasts smashing the defenses of superpower alliances.
Leviathans: Basically the sea unit for the dragon(barbarian) cities. Not true to the movie, but let's face it-the movie sucked. :D
Anarchist: A mob of angry citizens, armed with throwable bombs. Another good idea for a industrial/modern age barbarian unit.
Zepplin Bomber: A late industrial age air unit. It will be the dominance of the skies until the early modern ages. Just another good flavor unit.

I'll think of more later. Hopefully someone can help me out here, thanks!

I think it was Pesoloco that made a Blimp... It looks basicly like a zepplin. And I'm working on the dragons :)

yes, I made a blimp. I think it will be very similiar to the zepelin you want.
check the link in my sig

Yeah, I can't believe I missed it in the first place. Great job on the units! They look truly fantastic!

Pesoloco: Great looking unit! I'm downloading it now, hopefully it will work out for me. Thanks to both of you for your hard work.

I have a few other ideas for units too, I just want to see how to fit these in first. ;)

Okay now I want the B2 Spirit stealth bomber and the AC-130 Spectre. The AC-130 Spectre is a unit that looks like with just one or more modifications it could be made at the same time into a Hercules transport. I saw these two units in the paper and the attack on the AC-130 would be a great one with all those streaks of light. Healz.

Oke didn't make any unit request so far, but as a civ3 fanatic I would love to see this unit!

Multi-role aircraft developed and built in cooperation with Germany and Italy.

History of Development.
The Tornado IDS is the baseline model that resulted from a 1968 feasibility study undertaken by the Belgian, British, Canadian, Dutch, Italian and West German governments for an advanced warplane to be designed, developed and built as collaborative venture with the object of providing the air forces of the partner nations with a STOL warplane able to undertake the close air support, battlefield interdiction, long-range interdiction, counter-air attack, air-superiority, interception and air defence, reconnaissance and naval strike roles.

Belgium and Canada withdrew at an early date, being followed by the Netherlands at a later date, and this left Italy, the UK and West Germany to persevere with project definition from May 1969 and development from July 1970. The resulting MRCA- 75 (Multi-Role Combat Aircraft for 1975) was designed as a high-performance type with a fly-by-wire control system and advanced avionics for extremely accurate navigation and safe flight at supersonic speeds and very low levels in all weathers, this being deemed the only way to ensure pinpoint day/night first-pass attacks with a heavy (and highly diverse) warload against a variety of well defended targets. Design and development of the MRCA-75 was entrusted to Panavia, which was created in 1969 as a joint venture by Aeritalia (now Alenia), BAC (now BAe) and MBB (now DASA), while the parallel engine consortium was created as Turbo-Union by Fiat, MTU and Rolls-Royce. The two main subcontractors were IWKA-Mauser for the cannon and Elliott for the electronics, and government control was provided by the NAMMA organization established in 1970 to supervise each country's contribution, which was fixed at 42.5% each by the UK and West Germany, and 15% by Italy.

With the new warplane's roles finalized, the task of the design team was to create an airframe/powerplant/electronic combination able to fulfill the resulting requirement. This demanded five core capabilities: the ability to take-off and land in very short distances for continued operational capability even if the main runways were damaged, the ability to fly at high speed at very low level over long ranges without significant degradation of crew performance, the ability to undertake low-level penetrations of hostile air space by day and/or night under all weather conditions, the ability to hit any target with complete accuracy in a first-pass attack, and the ability to attain high supersonic speed at all altitudes. The aerodynamic core of the airframe demanded by these capabilities was a variable-geometry wing: in its minimum-sweep configuration of 25 degrees this would generate high lift at takeoff and landing (thereby reducing lift-off and touch-down speeds and consequently reducing runway requirements), and in its maximum-sweep configuration of 68 degrees it would produce low wave drag for high supersonic speed as well as low gust response for a smooth low-level ride. The wing was also planned with extensive high-lift devices for further enhancement of its take-off and landing performance: these devices included double-slotted flaperons across virtually the full span of the variable-sweep trailing edges, automatically controlled slats across virtually the full span of the variable-sweep leading edges, and Krueger flaps under the leading edges of the fixed inboard wing sections. The primary flight-control surfaces were all powered, and the primary surfaces were the rudder and all-flying tailerons. The latter operated collectively for longitudinal control and differentially for lateral control, being augmented in the latter task by spoilers on the wing upper surfaces: these were designed to become operational only at sweep angles of 45 degrees and less, and to operate collectively as lift dumpers after touch-down.

Flight control was exercised via a fly-by-wire system operating in conjunction with a command stability augmentation system. The airframe was, of course, schemed in association with the powerplant and electronics. The powerplant was to comprise a pair of reheated turbofans of very low specific fuel consumption for long range and high afterburning thrust for maximum acceleration at take-off, and fitted with thrust-reversers for maximum reduction of the landing run. The avionics were based on an extremely advanced nav/attack system with fully automatic terrain-following capability to ensure all-weather penetration capability. Structural design was completed in August 1972, and the first of nine prototypes flew in April 1974, the type being named Tornado later in the same year. The Tornado IDS baseline warplane was ordered into production during July 1976, the first pre-production Tornado IDS flew in February 1977 and the type entered service in July 1980.

I'll probably get around to posting the files around the 14-16 November as I am still hard at work. If I don't by the 16 private-message me to remind me.

Railwayguns are a problem, since the unit movement cannot be restricted to rails (see http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33736)

The KARL (or THOR)-mortar could be an alternative, since it was self propelled.
Its caliber was 60 cm and the maximum firing range about 6800 m.

The low firing range would indicate a range stat of 1 or maximum 2 tiles, which IMHO makes this unit less interesting than the DORA, but I surely would take it!

Has anyone given any thought to the British 25 pounder or the German 88? How about some anti-tank guns to counter all these tanks? The Germans and Russians had tons of them on the Eastern Front. I'd love to see someone do a light carrier like HMS Eagle or Ark Royal and either a light/heavy cruiser circa 1940's.

I have an interesting requet, can someone make a Grim Reaper unit? It could have the traditional balck robe and syhte, and it's run animation could be the bottem of it's robe flappping behind him, or if the coat was all the way around his legs in a circle looking way, if it could like hover to move.
The unit's attack could be, obviously, it slashing it's sythe and it's death could be similar to the UFO unit, where a "portal" opens up and it goes thru it.
The Grim Reaper could be a special unit, requiring you have an Army or something, or as an upgrade to the leader.
Anyway, I just thought this unit would be a fun addition to the game and probably good for some MOD ideas I've been seeing posted on the fourm.
