Unit Thread v.2

Well done mate! That's something I've always wanted to do but never had time to try.

You might also be able to use some of Tom's spell units. If you find separate animations I recommend using steph's multiunit tool (SSB) to combine them with your units where practical.

I finally learned how to convert units from Dawn of War to CivIII. Here is a small preview of Ork Gargant in game (only default is done yet and I'm planning to redo it).

The main problems so far:

1.Effects are hard coded in game, so I cannot open them in 3ds max. I can't make it myself either, so the only way I see is cut and paste them. Any suggetions on where to take them, templates etc. would be very appreciated.

2.I'm still not pleased with lighting. I'm going to try one from Vingrjoe's Civ3UnitSetup.

Thanks! I'll use Tom's spells for psyker units. I found suitable effects for most units but still nothing suits for Banewolf's or Plaguereapers acid attacks.

The good news is that I can make convertions for almost all units in LMR's list (excluding ships, of course). Convertion of buildings should be even easier.

For now I want to concentrate on Titan and Worker units.

Workers

Imperial Guard: Servitor, Tech Priest
Inqusition: Iquisitorial Servitor, Architect
Space Marines: Tech Marine
Chaos: Heretek, Chaos Tech Marine
Eldar: Bonesinger
Dark Eldar: Slave
Tau: Builder Drone
Necrons: Builder Scarabs

Titans:

Chaos: Ravager
Orks: Stompa, Gargant, Great Gargant
Eldar: Revenant
Dark Eldar: Tormentor
Tau: X104 Riptide, X107 R'varna
Necrons: Aeonic Orb
Tyranid: Hierophant

Gargant is done (still without effects): http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=24320

I'll try to remove black blot on his backpack later and still haven't center the unit. What do you think of civ-colored parts? Do they look alright?

I also rethought my plans on concentrating on titans. I thought that you didn't want to include it because of lack of models. But here comes the problem of balance and such as well.

So is there anything you want me to do after servitor? Any requests?

Thank you.

Bonesinger is almost ready. Enginseer and Slave will follow. Don't know if there's something like dark servitor but I have dark enginseer. And also what would eladar/DE settlers look like? They would not be just guys with bags and sticks, would they?

Ok, another question: do workers/settlers have attack/defence strenght? If yes, than I can convert Bonesinger's sword strikes too.

On closer look Dark Enginseers model appeared to be modification of Ecclesiarchy servitor. So we can use at as dark servitor too.
