Unit Transport over water.

I'm really looking forward to this feature.

If Civ V manages to make naval combat a strong part of the overall game, that would add a whole new dimension to the game. For that I'm willing to bend on the no transport thing.

My first thought when I read about this feature was WFT??? but then the more I've thought about it, embarking without transports could really open up naval invasions, as well as simplify that whole monotonous process of stacking units in ports, boarding and unboarding, etc, which all make sea invasions such a hassle, not to mention just getting across a channel one-square wide (or should I say hex?)

My understanding is you need a tech to do it, and as said earlier in the thread, you're vulnerable on water, so it will still be quite distinct from running across land.

Hopefully this opens up the sea more.

This is actually a nice mechanic it might make the AI way better in doing transcontinental invasions:D

This ruined many Europe/World games for me. England is a fantastic place for an industrial city, but it's never worth building units there because of the nightmare of having to constantly ship them across the Channel. Too much paperwork for my taste, so my industrial cities ended up idle half the time.

Although I don't really like the removal of naval transports, i guess it will add a new tactical level to the game seeing how these embarking land units will most likely have to be protected by naval units. And as mentioned before, the removal of naval transports really was necessary because of the one unit per tile limit.
