Units for MansWork

I need to finish the sounds. Good things come to those who wait. In this case, awesome things.

Some really fine new artillery pieces.

Hopefully the 75mm Howitzer M116 will turn up too ;-)

Nice work guys....

The Wirbelwind and the 2 cm Flak are especially wonderful and will directly go to the next update of SOE. Thank you very much! :hatsoff:

Here is what I want to ask you guys. Have these two models of american AT gun called M5, but i found no info which can separate and describe the differences. The second might be an upgraded variant or something like that... I just need two different names for them in general. Any ideas?

I found a few references along the lines of, "The American M5 3 inch anti-tank gun was standardized on carriage M1 in December 1942. In November 1943 a slightly modified carriage was standardized as M6."

More detail: "In 1942 the US decided to produce an indigenous Anti-tank gun to replace the 57mm M1(see US45) and resulted in this cumbersome but effective 7.62mm gun. Using the gun tube from their 3" anti-aircraft gun and the breech, carriage and shield from the 105mm M1 (see US47) it was designated as the M5, but after the introduction of the new unique gun shield, it was redesignated as the M6. A total of over 2500 were built and used on all fronts." - http://www.milicast.com/shop/product.php?productid=638&cat=3&bestseller=Y

Facing the page/screen, the one on the left would appear to be the M6.

Best,

Oz

regarding the shield, it seems that the one to the left would be the upgraded version...am i right??
or even a lighter version - because the wheels are taller and the shield does not reach the ground

well it seems the gaun combines antiaircraft with howitzer or anti-tank elements......i might bet the one to the left is more suited for AT combat while the one to the left could be used as AA

Good finding! Thanks Oz. I can use it as post-war gun now.

Looks like I missed simple thing what upgrades can lead to the lighter versions :crazyeye:

the one ont left is a 3inch M5 AntiTank gun on carriage M6
the one on the right is likely the same gun on carriage M1 but also very similar to a M101 105mm howitzer on carriage M2A2

I was going over gwendoline's jpg of artillery pieces and AFV's and I could more or less deduce what most of the equipment was except for a couple, perhaps somebody with a keener eye for military hardware can set me straight. On the third row from the top, second artillery piece from the left is that an American M114 howitzer? Also on the same row is the artillery piece that's fourth from the left an old British 5.5 howitzer? Or are they both something entirely different?

Spoiler :

Yes, M114 and, as I just noticed, must be BL 5.5 inch, one of my favor units there. No idea why it had work name BL 7.2... It's good you've put my attention on it before the upload. Can't wait to share :)

check the DB for some new Italian WW2 equipment.
