Here's a place to confine talk of KISS that shouldn't clutter the Looking Glass or the Embassy.

Reason I'm starting it:
Pop. of Simpleton lost two in the last two turns. Refer to Looking Glass.

Scenarios:
a. sack by barbarians, then produce worker

b. sack by barbarians, then another sack by barbarians

c. disease, then worker

d. disease, then sacking

Am I missing any? Can disease strike twice?
Or maybe, though unlikely, Provo's around? If so, we should send help :)

that's a terrifying thought – but if true – shouldn't our military advisor be warring us that we are weak compared to them?

I think that when disease strikes, it always strikes twice consecutively (unless the first strike brings your population down to 1) so I would bet on disease. From that we can gather that there capital is near jungle or (more likely) flood plains.

Pop rush is very unlikely - for one citizen, you can't rush more than 20 shields and you would have to disband something to get some shields in the bin first. The "best" they could do is disband worker or warrior then pop-rush spearman - there is no way they would do that.

I'm glad to see you jumping in M4!

At the moment – we are all engaged in trying to secure various peace and trade deals with team KISS.

I hope your "outsider" perspective is a breath of fresh air – reminding us all that, ultimately, team KISS will try to kill us.

Course – I already tend to be one of the more paranoid people on this team.
(No! You never would have guessed that!! <heavy sarcasm>)

Our glorious Foreign minister Fe333au tends to be more optimistic and trusting… but visions of Gallic Swordsmen dancing among the burning ruins of our villages and the corpses of our people haunt my dreams.

Wow - isn't that cheery!
Nevermind - I know our whole team will strive to make sure that never happens.

Remember the words of M4 Sherman...
Team K.I.S.S. will try to exterminate us.

General!

But team KISS is not the AI. They must know that a war is going to happen anyway. Trade treaties won't appease them. Only swords. That's what I fear, and this is my first MTDG. I don't want to have my team exterminated :(.

When dealing with security and defense , paranoid people do a great job ;).

I fear that. I don't want to be killed by one of these [insert KISS soldier nickname].

Including I :). Let's get to work!

Would I be correct in saying that would be a "Suren"?

I like this guy, he be a war monger :D

My Philosaphy is "A good offense means a good defense, especially when your troops are marching though their city's"

>_> But we need to expand FAST!!!

Yeah. That's the point. But we must balance expansion with military building. Team KISS has human players, and they may be building a large stack of gallic swordsmen to take our unprotected cities. We will always send settlers with at least a hoplite to garrison our future settlements.

M4 – please don’t take this wrong – I love your enthusiasm – but we’ve had a lot of discussions that you’re not familiar with yet… I know you’ll get there!

The problem with escorting every settler with a hoplite is that the cost of each new city goes from 30 shields up to 50 shields.
We are planning on getting a military factory city up and going as soon as possible (probably in Black Hole) but for the time being – we’re up against 2 agrarian enemies who will horribly out-expand us if we try to heavily guard each settler.
For the time being – we’re going to have to talk real nice to KISS and hope they don’t hit us before our military factory is up and running.

Further discussion on this should take place in the Defence thread.

Keep speaking up! It’s the only way to learn – Lord knows I have to be corrected often enough myself!

I'm so glad to have these new players... I relish the fresh perspective on the situations we've been poring over for the past two weeks.. I'd really like to hear their opinions on our pending trade agreements: What do you think are the dangers we might not be worrying about enough?

KISS are indeed human, and not AI. But once you read through the DNUTS chatlogs, you'll see that they aren't very human. Their trade tactics are downright Inhumane.

As for the military factory in Black Hole, that's only part of the way we plan to defend our settlers... We are set up to run a settler/warrior factory in Athens. All settlers will be escorted by a Warrior, mostly to defend against barbarians. (Like TNT ;)

gentleman all this talk of war and agression ... looks like rujikin has someone to share his kennel :p

As to the perception that our Foreign Ministries are soft :shakehead: grass hoppers you will learn ... all you need is to take a break from the steroids ... The record will prove me correct that I am anything but soft ... I am the one who is constantly dismayed that we took our eyes off the KISS warrior ... where ever he may be now ...

So regarding your concerns about armies invading ... which I too have ... and mine dreams are techicoloured and the sounds supplied by the Blue Room ... beat that Mr. President :p ...

So regarding your paranoia ... checking the Looking Glass will inform all that our military is STRONG compared to both Rivals ... so sleep easy for now my new friend ;)

Lesson 1 ... Much can be gained from a handshake when one is ambidexterous  ...

I was rereading some of the older threads.... and I came across some interesting tid-bits.

First, remember that **Offical Doughnuts TurnCHat** where they posted screenshots of a fake start? Whomp was among the first to post a reply:

Whomp said:
Dude you guys got hosed. Maybe you can go for a conscript rush or something.

We only got two desert tiles, two plains, two grasslands, five cows, three wheat, three goat hills, four lux tiles and five BGs in our starting 21.

Then, more recently, the reason this thread was started, we speculated on the odd pop drop in Simpleton. Chamnix turns out to have been correct:

chamnix said:

And finally, a freebie from Tubby Rower, in a chat with Fe3333au:
tubby rower said:

KC Venters: we had a bit of disease hit but the granary helped us get back on track quicker ;-)

So. They definitely had disease, and they already had a granary up. Turn 29, they were 5. 30 @ 4 ... 31 @ 3 ... 32 @ 2 .... then 33 again @ 2.

Disease it is. Therefore, how plausible do we think Whomp's description of their 21 tiles to be?... Of course, Tubby or Whomp could have been tossing out bait for a disinformation campaign.

I've posted a map incorporating the latest revelation from our Hawk-eyed Domestic Minister. I spraypainted borders that are just guesses. In fact, I think their borders are a bit more extensive to the west than what I've drawn.

We know they are scared of being so close to TNT. That's why I think they are even larger. I also think this map will be useful to refer to when discussing a land-grab strategy.
