update on AI loop problem?

the more you fix this bug, the more you have to do the next time it arises. for example my first time with this loop was still early, around 1400. i just gave everyone a ship and that solved it. my second time with this was 1600s and i had to delete EVERY ship in the game to get it to solve. my third time with this was 1700s and i had to delete two nations entirely from the game. the last time i got this there was no solution except perhaps to delete more nations but this weakens the balance of power and makes you the only stable nation on earth...and guess who wins when everyone else is being exterminated every 100 years? sound fun? thought not.

that would lead to a boring ass game lol. to be the only personin the world with a navy would be kind of...easy. im just going to wait a few weeks and see if this is fixed. if not ill go find another mod with more modern units.

This problem is an absolute curse, and has finally driven me away from Civ4 again.

I have been playing an Epic-speed, Emperor-level game for *weeks*, using my free time to slowly develop a very interesting game, barely clawing my way up to the middle of the scoreboard. I have finally reached the modern era after centuries of war, and in a brief period of peace managed to make my empire reach forward technologically.

I have a dozen individual units with 100+ xp and long-standing records of valour. I have finally clawed my way up to 2nd on the score-chart. It's the modern era, and I'm building new units I've never even seen before.

And then the Ai Loop hits, and I am now forced to abandon the game.

I'm not going to waste another couple of weeks on a game that ends up more frustrating than rewarding.

I'm going to put Civ4 down until this bug is fixed.

If this really is fixed in the latest patch of the Improved AI, then I suggest a show-stopper like this should be patched into ROM as the highest possible priority.

Hey Sarkyn, same happened to me (see the Earth Odyssey Thread in the RoM Strategy Subforum). I was as frustrated as you - but today good news came our way!
Zap wrote in the 2.8 Discussion-Thread that for 2.8, he changed some AI-Unit-Handlings and he hopes this solves the problem. I asked him if he could provide the fixed file before the official release of 2.8 and he said he would try so and post it tomorrow - damn let's hope this will work! I can't wait to try it out - better than a month or so without civ, right? =)

The Official non-beta 2.8 will not have the waiting for civ bug or any CTD's. I've been playing early builds of RevDCM 2.6 (That's the core of RoM), and these bugs are gone. I got to the transhuman era in my game with no CTD's or waiting bugs.

can you post that version? i would love you forever. i dont know how much longer zap will be working on 2.8 official and i need my civ4 fix before my deployment in november.

Try Beta5 of my addon's. It's got it's own thread in the modmod's forum. It has that fix.

Just for further clarification if necessary (doubtful but better safe than sorry):

Be sure to download 2.8beta first, then download and install Afforess' 1.4beta5 on the 2.8beta. Then you are ready to go :D.

1. Go here and download the 2.8beta, and install to your mods directory.

2. Go here and download the Afforess 4.1beta5 and follow the install instructions (both of the downloads are in .exe installer form).

Any problems, report to Afforess in his thread, the second one I link you to.

are all those other mods included that i read about in his addon package? i especially liked the 15% speed increase mod, advanced diplomacy, and muplti-production.

Yes. It is merely a beta test of my newest features. Older features are included too.
