Is there a way to upgrade the laptop's processor speed from 1.5GHz to 2.0GHz. Since I am starting to notice some of the newer games that are comming out (Metal of Honor: Pacific Assault & The Sims 2) have that processor speed clocked at 2.0GHz or greater. THough I am disapointed that my graphics card did not have the T&L feature in the intel chipsets and thus forced to go along with the 2.0GHz mimumum requirements.

I am curious if it is possible just to upgrade the processor on the laptop?

Don't know for sure, but I've cracked open some laptops at work, and it's a lot of work to do so. Laptops generally aren't upgradeable like desktops are. Hard drives are easy to do, because they're right there on the edge of the laptop, usually. Same with Ram and Batteries. Optical discs as well, if they're removeable. But you couldn't do speakers, or the screen very easily. I don't think it would be worth it to try and upgrade the processor. And it's certainly not like the ZIF slots that desktops have. I would guess it's soldered onto the MB.

So, basically, no.

So in other words, its also imposible to install a new graphics card?

I'm guessing so. I think that those are all hardwired into the MB.

Again, not sure on all of it, but that's been my experience.

Dang it, I need to dish out more cash to buy a new laptop just to play The Sims 2 . I forsee many problems when trying to play that game. I just hope the worse problem I would get is just a lag in the frame rate.

Why don't you contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask about upgradeability? That would be best.

I can ask the campus computer help desk (Which is where I bought my laptop) to see if its possible to have an upgrade in the processor speed. Though im not sure if the newest version of Intel Centrino clocks to 2.0GHz or better exists.

a lot of manufacturers/distrubutors will have upgrade options, but i don't know if your school/uni whatever will have that.

Or, you could just get a desktop, which are always upgradeable and therefore you could save money in the longrun. :)

I'am shure, you can upgrade your notebook. But normally it's horrible expensive on thuch parts, that it makes no sence.

Future laptops supporting Nvidias MXM standard will be upgradeable. Don't buy a laptop without it.
