Is there a preferred method for uploading things? Two of the saves in the instruction thread were uploaded in different ways and each offers a different experience downloading (Safari on a Mac). The first,

<a href="http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=149189&amp;d=1173032655" target="_blank">Current Save</a><br />

downloads on a single click, but also opens an extraneous browser window which I then close.

The second,

<a href="http://forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/11651/C4DG2_BC3800_Turn4.Civ4SavedGame" target="_blank">http://forums.civfanatics.com/upload....Civ4SavedGame</a>

simply opens the file as text in a window when single-clicked. Using the context menu allows me to save to the desktop, but the file has a .txt suffix and takes a bit of finagling to remove.

So, is there an upload method that makes for the smoothest downloads?

I don't know for non-Windows/IE actually, but the one I used should give you a popup window in Windows that ask you if you want to open or save the file. And if you click save you can say where.

Your first option appears to be an attachment to the post. The second way appears to have been uploaded to the Easy Uploader (or whatever they call it).

I'm not sure why your getting the .txt extension, but I do recall someone bringing that problem up before in the GOTM Forums. I'd suggest PM'ing AlanH or bringing it up in the [civ4] Mac Forums.

:hmm: You've got me curious now. I'm off to check out the links...

Edit: That's odd. I just checked the links and everything is working great on my end.
