Urgent Question to FIRAXIS

Could anyone from Firaxis please find out if old games will run with the new patch?

Will I be able to play on a 1.21 game after installing the patch??????

I'm not from Firaxis, but I think I know the answer: So far, Firaxis has made sure that you could continue to play an old game after installing a new patch.

This has been true for all the older patches, so I guess you can be quite sure that this will hold true for 1.29 as well.

That's what I'd expect, too, but I'm about to start a huge SG and would like to be sure.....

At first I thought he meant Saved Game. He is going to put some time and effort into this new game, and hopes his SG will work....

But then I see he has started a Succession Game, "Warmonger's Delight." That's probably the right answer.

The only times I have heard of problems were if it was a modded game, then it may or may not crash/work. Regular unmodded games are no problem.

Well, errr; actually, what is a succession game ? I kind of figured out by myself it was a game when the player changes every X turns...
Enlighten me on the subject and maybe yes, I'll join !

Exactly, you take turns playing 20 or so turns each.....

It is good traingin for MP games, you can see what others do with the situation you hand them, also, you get to play a very wide variety of games without going trough endless ages of waiting... e.g. you get to see huge map Modern Times - I make sure I win my games before that because I can't stand 100 turns that last 1 hour each. But 3 times 10 turns is OK...

And another stupid question... Do all players need to have the same version of CIV (not patch, but langage) ? And how do you exchange the save game ? By mail ?
If the first answer is no and the second yes, then I'm interested.
In that case, we can discuss it by e-mail (adress is in my profile), instead of polluting this thread )

As to your specific questions, You need the same patch, e.g. 1.29f. As for language, I don't think that's a problem, but I'm not sure. And the save games and maps and such are posted on the file server here at CFC. Play by email (PBEM) is an option, but I don't know of too many Civ3 PBEM games.

@ Padma : SG is a good place for new players to learn the tricks of the trade as they can download the savegames at various stages and look at it, study it. This can't be done for a PBEM SG.
