us again

Just waiting on confirmation to go GLH or not....also, if not GLH do we go POT or AH

I would like GLH, because I don't see this game as winnable without something extra to push us through the early to mid game. In that case, I think we need some tight management for the next 2-3 TSs, though, since post-T50 is not great on deity.

GLH is good, but getting cities that don't completely suck is better.
Getting Sailing now is good however as it keeps the GLH path open but also allows to get traderoutes and LH for better food in the capital.

I'd play through Sailing and try as best as possible to find some city spots and/or whether there is an AI close/far.

I'll go ahead and play out about 10 turns based on the Sailing path then

TS report:

Turn 1: Switch to Slavery.

Turn 2: Whip worker. Fortify warrior to heal

Turn 3: Build 1t of settler. Actually move worker to farm sheep. We can save chop for LH and farmed sheep is decent...we have some grow to do

Turn 4: Switch to warrior. Barb Warrior right next to fortified and healed Woody Warrior in Jungle so I let him take a hit so we can maybe get Woody II

Turn 5: Woody Warrior takes only .1 damage from barb. 1XP from Woody II. Warrior heals 1t.

Turn 6: arrgh...Woody walks right into a barb archer. Despite standing in Jungle he dies.

Turn 7: Worker finish farmed sheep and moves to forest GH to chop which should be done in time for LH.

Rest kind of uneventful. After pre-chopping the forest as I built 2 warriors, I started pre-mining while Sailing came in so the chop could go into the LH. A warrior is back up to the Desert hill to the north which reveals a barb Archer in the vicinity.

We can 2pop whip the LH this turn for decent OF into Settler, or save the LH whip for the GLH. Worker will finish GH mine next turn.

I just moved 1 citizen (we are size 4 now) to the lake for more commerce just this turn to get Masonry faster, but that can be adjusted of course.

I think I did ok but losing the warrior was disappointing since not much scouting was done - at all.

I'd rather whip the LH now, it's worth 2F per turn after all, and we don't have any decent tile to work after growth anyway. Put the overflow into the settler and finish it. If we can avoid the archer up there maybe we won't need another warrior in order to send the settler to found "City A".

After the settler, Masonry should be in or nearly in so we can switch to GLH then if we're so inclined.

On the good side, it looks like by founding "City A" and another one to its NW we should be able to block of the peninsula pretty well.

Checking in. I was out of town for national day since wednesday (without web access...). reading the thread now :)

shyuhe's up, mysty on deck (or kossin, if he wants to play).

I really didn't think we needed to farm the sheep. Also, I would have put the chop hammers into the settler. That way we could have whipped it already for 40+ OF into LH and re-grown on that quickly.

Getting the settler to the other fish, and later protecting that city will be tricky. In retrospect, we should've probably dropped the original WM warrior into fogbust duty around that site. Exploration was important, though.

At the moment, we do need to whip something.

Most important, are we going for GLH or not?

Nope, lurker mode only :)
I hate playing civ on a slow laptop.

I forgot that I'm up.

I think the best here is to finish the settler at size 4 in 6 turns, then whip the lighthouse after one more turn for max overflow into the GLH. Chop/build the GLH. The only question is where to put city #2. I think 1 NW of the fish is pretty good, and it will ease our fog busting. Although we may need archery soon...

That's a main reason why I didn't rush the settler. I felt we might have trouble defending the city as present, especially after losing the first warrior. Based on on AI sightings yet, I don't think we need to rush to that spot until we get archery or some better unit.

I'd still think we should get out a WB scout if there is time.

You can't whip overflow WB's so building one will only slow down the GLH. If I don't hear any other objections, I'll probably play later tonight.

Roster:
mysty - technically on deck
ras - lost?
Thrar
bbp
lymond - played
shyuhe - technically up

So that would make me up. I can't play this week either so I'm fine with either waiting for shyuhe to play or anyone else having a go. What about ras anyway? Done reading the thread by now? :p

My thoughts too. But we may as well wait until some more players are back on track here. Do we want to try the justinian game or launch a completely new one? Any civ/leader requests or just random?

If we abandon it, might as well roll a new one. No particular preference re civ/leader for me.
Shyuhe/Mysty, since you're next in line, what do you think? Do you want to play your set to see how it plays out or do you feel it's a waste of time?
