Using Great Scientist for Academy

Academys can be a viable use of a GS I think. The Babylonian free GS from Writing appears to be best used as an academy, as it will generate more Science overall than any tech you can grab. That is, unless you save it.
I'd like to say I use the academy, but I think I can only see myself doing this if I am playing as Korea, or I KNOW that I will get the Freedom finisher, which is fairly rare. Getting a few together and skipping over a whole military era is just fantastic.
Unsure about the space thing, I think I've only had one space victory, and I'm ashamed to say it was in about 2030 I think.
Even more cringeworthy is that I was the tech leader in that game. However hard I sucked, the AI sucked more.
