and on the list of units on this site it mentions the f-15 and the panther
hopefully the f 15 wont suck

and in a vid thay had elphents so im gessing ther gonna be indas uu.

so any thots?

I think they said Elephants will be available to everyone.

Sounds like it's all basically the same.

Praetorian guard is sort of silly for the Romans ... it was a very small number of people. There was only one Praetorian Guard group, usually you have alot of UUs. Legionary was much better.

Camel archer??!!?? That's really silly. They should get a fast horse archer of some kind.

I'm sure that it wouln't be long after the release before a modder changes it Legionary, or creates an actual Legionary unit.

I hope it's not F-15 for America, that really sucks. I vote for WW2 GI. I have a GI in my C3C mod for the US, much better than a never used F-15.

i wonder what the panther will be like, the panther shold be no faster then any other tank so i dont see any speed bounus. but it shold have a beater strength, say insted of plus 1, maby give it 2 or 3 but and 20 to or 30 more in cost

Modding one civ to be more powerful than others is kinda cheating...

They have mentioned imortals... possibly the UU for the persians

And of course there is the possibility that UUs are linked to leaders rather than nations.

The praetorian guard was the body guard of the emperor for the first two hundred years of the empire. It evolved from the bodyguard of a Roman commanding general, who had been elected at least to the rank of praetor, one office below the office of consul on Rome's hierarchy of officials. Thus when the Roman army camped, the headquarters of the general became known as the praetorium, and the general's own troops the praetorian guard.

At any rate, having the 'praetorian guard' as a special unit would be a terrible idea. Being a member of the guard was the most attractive duty because the members received double salary and were garrisoned in Rome, a cushy post compared to the Rhine frontier. (This is still true today.) They rioted whenever they felt threatened, and were often more dangerous to the emperors than the Germans and Parthians. In A.D. 193, after the emperor Pertinax had been assassinated, the praetorian guard auctioned off the job to the highest bidder. The fool who purchased the office was quickly defeated by a rival whose army had been trained on the border and could thus fight effectively.

I think they said something about Red Coats for the British.

I wouldn't get my hope up on this being the german UU yet. More likely, the panther, along with the Wolf, the Bear and the Lion, is one of the "wild animal" barbarian units.

I agree that it sounds pretty much the same, while I like some of the changes it seems like generally a graphics upgrade. This in my opinion does not warrent shelling out 50 dollars for it...just my opinion

And this gives what to the conversation about UUs?

Anyhow, considering that the UUs are tied to the leaders now, I don't think we'll be seeing the infamous F-15 this time.
Washington will obviously get the minuteman but how about Roosevelt? GI? Some kind of tank? Some kind of carrier?

even the sherman would be a good idea.(cheaper to build) or what about marine UU(increased attack or something) for the americans? at any rate..the UU is a neat concept but the roman praetorian is as goofy as giving them a gladiator for their UU

Why is everyone sure that Arabia is gonna get the Camel Archer? Wouldn't it be a thinkable solution for Mali too? Ok, historically not necessarily, but Camel Archers would suit the Berbers, and they have shown with the civ3 chinese uu, that they are willing to borrow units from a nearby ethnic group... :)

redcoat for england sounds like a good idea- america should have a b 29 or space shuttle or atomic bomb- they are all one of a kind- marine? england has them-
Gi? they were better than british or german infantry? doubtful
Sherman? worse tank ever - but i like the production idea

Look at the Arabs in the table :p

i know the sherman sucked...but it was the numbers that ultimately won the tank battles...they would loose an average of 3 to every tiger tank..but they still out produced them..the power of detriot per say. as far as the marines..i know that the brittish royal marines are an awsome fighting force..but america has seemed to embrace them more then any other country..and ultimitly took the place(not entirely but to a huge extent) of the army in the pacific theatre during world war 2..i dont think a USMC unique unit would be all that bad.
