Sweet. Now we need to back it up with this version and hook the public.

Yes this seems to be a problem that keeps croping up once in a while. Last night, I even had it were 3 guys started in a row. Becuase of this it is now first on my priority list to fix.Thanks. I have never seen this, but matthewv said he is working on the map scripts so this can't happen. Keep checking since the new version is coming soon!
I could put you can easily control the number of players when you start a custom game so this is not absolutly essential.Good idea. However, the fact that the entire map is colonisable should count for something. Perhaps you could reduce the number of civs on the lower-size maps?
True, If you really want I could post two map scripts, one with evenly spaced starting positions and one without.(won't take me any additional time to do this)Realistically it's entirely likely that civs would pick spots wherever the He3 is, no matter how close they are to one another. In game though I can see where that would suck, but would make for an interesting turf war.
your wish is my commandDo it! The more the merrier!
I was also thinking of another thing about realism.... what are the odds on everyone settling a colony in the same year? Would it be possible to stagger the settling over a period of 1-10 years? Sure some people would start behind, but that's a fact of life! Maybe they'd get another free tech because they'd learn from other's mistakes or through espionage?
