v1.52: Crash to desktop when quicksaving

I've noticed that with the new patch, the game now asks for confirmation if you are quicksaving, since it will overwrite the last quicksave. However, now I get a crash to desktop (CTD) if I quick save more than once on a given session.

Anyone else have this problem?

Same problem here:
During the third quickSave (Shift+F5) the game does a CTD.
Actually, the savefile is saved without errors. It can be reloaded.

The popup asking for confirmaiton to overwrite a previous quicksave is an annoyance.

Hmmm, it could be the third time for me too -- I wasn't paying careful enough attention. And I agree, the overwrite notice is annoying. The quicksave's purpose is to save to a temporary file... otherwise I would just do a normal save.

iamphp: I didn't get the error box you mentioned. All I get is the typical windows XP box which tells me that the program has crashed. No messages from Civ4.

Same problem here. It crashes every time I hit F5.
Reloading the quick saved game works fine.

Hmm, during my second game quicksaving worked fine. Can't say what I did different.

Yeah, I noticed this as well, though for me it doesn't happen that often. Usually takes 5-6 quick saves before it crashes. And that confirmation pop-up is definitely annoying :\

After installing the 1.52 patch I started a game on marathon speed. I also changed the option to not wait at end of turn. I had a couple of CTD when I did a quick save and the games was 'thinking'. After that I make sure that it is my turn when I quick save and have not had the problem since.

And yeah the conformation screen is very annoying. First I have to use both hands to hit shift/f5 and then go find my mouse to press OK. If they insist on keeping this 'feature' then I hope that they let it default to OK and allow you to press the enter key to acknowledge.

I found out what the problem was:
For version 1.09 I had a shortcut to launch the game. The shortcut itself was placed on the desktop and I moved it to:
C:\Documents and Settings\my userid\Desktop\some folder

The new shortcut, that gets placed on the desktop is in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop

Although both shortcuts point to the same executable ("C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Civilization4.exe"), only the shortcut in All Users works fine with quick saving and version 1.52.

I'm not sure this is it. My desktop shortcut is in "All Users", and I still get the quicksave crash.

Besides, what about getting crashes if you start the game using autoplay?
