Hey,

wouldn't it be nice if workers would have the ability to remove improvements from tiles?
For example to remove roads of other civs after conquering cities.

What about removal of city ruins?
Because I can't build everything an those tiles. Or do they vanish after a time? (I don't had an eye on that.)

A razed city will leave city ruins and a road, you can remove the road with a worker, and any other improvement will replace the city ruins.

You can only remove roads which you've built or are within your cultural borders, also you can only build improvements within your borders (except roads and forts?)

@rfxmills
okay, I'd overseen that I was on a field with a coal ressource and therefore could not build a farm on it.

However, I'd like to see a "remove improvement" option for workers (if this is possible) because it would grant a much more lucid map (in time) after take over an enemies lands. I think the AI builds improvements in every hex possible and I don't always want that. Start building anything and abort prevents the cost but not the visual flaw.

If you're concerned with visuals:

  1. Open the tuner's Map tab.
  2. Click the "improvement plopper."
  3. Right-click tiles on the map to remove improvements.
It's rare that we would need to remove improvements without replacing them with a new ones, so other work has to take priority right now.

What I would actually like to see is the ability to regrow forest/jungle's..

/sigh.. maybe when Firaxis finally feels like releasing the DLL, the modders aren't gonna stick around forever.

Of course I would also like to see new and "improved" improvements in the modern era and such. Soon will the days be gone that we actually have agriculture and everything will be genetically modified cloned beef that was injected with drugs to produce additional muscle mass that contains 50% pink slime to maximize profits.

Reduces happiness -5

Tile improvements don't cost anything unless they're roads or railroads. The ingame text is badly worded.

@wobuffet
So the line "maintain improvements" in the budgets list is for road and railroad only?
Seems to be quite high...?

I thought if you conquer your enemies' lands, you'll have to pay for all new improvements too.

@Thalassicus
When I hover over the budget in the top bar it says "Tile Improvmenet Maintenance".
This could be made clearer by renaming it to "Road and Railroad Maintenance" (or similar).
