My civ III complete disk 1 kept giving me problems like trouble reading the disk and even spit out of the drive at one point:crazyeye:

So, I did what any civ junkie would do and went out to get another copy. I went to Target and all they had was the civ III vanilla jewel cd. I bought it and was playing it fine until I noticed whenever I built a colony it would say "Firaxis games is a trademark of firaxis inc." followed by the name of the country the colony belongs to.

Anyways, I had to edit the labels.txt file so that the Firaxis part wasnt in the colony name. I installed the game on both machines at home and they both had this problem. BTW the cd comes with the game patched already to 1.29f.

Why is the retail CD like this???

Sounds like a simple error. I can't imagine how that happened, though. As long as it's fixed, what's the problem?

Just noticed this too while going back to see what vanilla 1.29f is like, searched for a solution and found this thread. I installed it from my Chronicles CD, and the extra newline is there in labels.txt.

It looks like civ3 complete does have this error also. But not the steam version of civ3 complete.

shows how rarely people use colonies, lol. I just had to grab an iron deep within a mountain range for the first time in 2 decades.
