Version 2.x bug reports

@Everyone

All with problems with RevolutionDCM addon please post those on addon's own thread. While I do try to check all errors/problems I don't know much of how revolutionDCM works and thus can't be much of help on those problems, Kalimakhus will probably know better answers for those in his addon thread.

@jeffdawgfan

What map script are you using when you start the game? I've had horses in all games so far.

I'll try to check those reported problems later tonight when I get back home but being busy this weekend, I don't have much time for modding for couple days.

Ah, just a minor detail. I can see that you used the Navy SEAL graphics to create that Special Forces-unit. Excellent, but shouldn't the American Unique Unit be also renamed as "USMC" or something? It is just too silly to call WWII era American marines as "SEALs"! It would be silly even with the modern marines... If American player wants SEALs he should train those Special Forces. What was Firaxis thinking in the first place anyway! :D

Regenerated a randomly created gigantic map several times and noticed the following:
Tobacco does not get distributed anywhere. (when fixing it it should get restricted to temperate/subtropical zones only)

Olives ought to be restricted to subtropical zones, and Apples to Temperate zones. Apples seem to show up everywhere, so they are excessively over-abundant on the continents they spawn on. Rubber should also be restricted to tropical and sub tropical zones.

Even if the contrary evidence for the expanded regions is presented, it would be better for balance to keep them confined to restricted zones.

I am just using the regular mod script. When doing a random map horses never show up.

I think I just fixed the gamefont files!!! And it took about 30mins with new approach :eek: Still have to test again that all icons are showing correctly everywhere but on first test I didn't see anything wrong with them anymore...

Well, i'm in mid game with Large size and marathon speed and turns out there is no stone anywhere on the entire planet! Makes me wonder how the civs know what glass is in the first place:lol:
Though there are horses...:mischief:

I think i have found the cause of the CTD in early games (from about 3500 BC to AD).
It comes when an early unit (archer & warrior up to now) reaches the 20xp limit. If the unit doesn't earn exactly 20xp but more than this, you just get a CTD (for exemple when a stack of 3 units attacks a 19xp archer defending and is fully defeated, or when a 19xp archer attacks a unit and win).

Reminder: I'm playing RoM 2.12 + Khalimakhus' add-on ;)

Something wrong then, three different examples of a resource failing to show on a randomly generated map. Maybe there are too many? I said once before that tobacco didn't show on a repeatedly randomly generated map which was true. However later on after restarting and making a new map, tobacco showed up. (horses did, as I was checking if those did) I didn't check other other resources though.

It might be that due to high amount of different resource types, when game places some on the map, they get overwritten with other resources which get placed on map after the first ones. Tweaking rules for resources where and how often they are placed on map might help but then again there's (at least on smaller maps) always possibility that there's not enough suitable plots for similar type resources which can lead to a game where one resource is missing.

One more thing: the two custom speeds don't show up when i start a game, and i always get a CTD whenever i play Giant or Gigantic map sizes around the 1800's BC:sad:

EDIT: so i don't double post: i noticed a few times when in WorldBuilder Mode that there were quite a few resources missing, but when i played it out, the resources appeared like they should, and i didn't add the resources either...

I am having a huge problem loading a saved game.

It won't let me. The game always crashes.

Any ideas?

@Inganno

Well, there could be a number of problems:
  • Did you by any chance upgrade the game and tried to reload it?
  • Are you on a Giant or Gigantic Map with an incompatible map script?
  • did you have a faulty installation?
  • etc, etc, etc, you get my point... you need to put at least some data about the game, or anyone trying to help won't be able to

Scratch faulty installation and upgrading complications, I've checked that already.

Scratch the map issue, I'm playing the map that comes with RoM.

I didn't include data, because I didn't see much of a need to... If it were a problem with the installation, etc., then I should have had problems in-game... I was wondering if it could be something wrong with, not how I installed the files, but the files themselves.

If I could have input from others who have had this problem, that would be great.

- I'd bet my chips on corrupt save file - something went wrong during the saving process.

If this is the case, only solution would be to load an earlier (auto)save. :sad:

in that case, :agree: why don't you upload the save file and let others check it out. It might also be that the save file is too big...

I keep getting a CTD every time I try to start a new game... I'm taken it out & reinstalled, I've usedKalimakhus' Revolution & DCM addon for RoM 1.0.x, I've taken it out, I've tried various map sizes... Since I'm no tech person, not sure what info you'd need to be able to help out. I've patched to 3.17, too...

Any help would be appreciated; I played this mod a couple of times a few months back and I enjoyed it immensely.

Well guess RoM2.12 is on the shelf then. :(

I get CTD's now as well. I haven't had those before with RoM or any of the addons. I use RoM 2.12 + the RevDCM addon. I'm usign a Standard map (Islands IIRC) - I usually play Small maps, but I just got an extra 1G RAM.

The crash is repeatable. Just end the turn on the enclosed save and you will get it. The log file is from loading this save and hitting end turn - no other action was done.

Edit: The larger Logs zip goes a few turns back - I don't know if it's useful. And I should add that memory usage wasn't the problem. I had Windows task manager running, and the total pagefile usage didn't exceed 1Gb - I have 2Gb RAM.
