Version 2.x bug reports

I tried to use the v2.5 RoM scenario maps that come with the v2.51 Mega Pack and they don't seem to work. I load the mod then pick the scenario for that map. The when it loads it crashes to desktop. I can make v2.5 RoM custom generated maps but not the scenario ones. How can i fix them so they will work with the v2.51 Mega Pack?

EDIT: The scenario maps work fine with normal v2.5. its only when I try to use the mega pack version (after changing the folder name to "Rise of Mandkind").

I have same problem with mega pack but I notice that the crashes are related to map size, I can play scenarios with standard map size, but with larger maps it crashes. Same with custom generated maps, large ones crash.

BtS log files

To speed up finding possible causes for bugs, you can enable logging in BtS and attach zipped log files in this thread when you post about your findings.

To enable logging go to BtS folder and open Civ4Config. Check following options to these settings:

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 1

; Overwrite old network and message logs
OverwriteLogs = 1

; Enable rand event logging
RandLog = 1

; Enable message logging
MessageLog = 1

Now when you start game, it logs everything to log files. When you exit the game, go to BtS folder, there should be Civ4logs, go there. Zip the log files in that folder and attach the zip file in your post so I can take a look at those files.

Try this.

Get the log(s) and post them here.

Helps zap find the bugs/etc..

Ok, here are my logs.

As said the crash only appears with 2.51 Mega pack, and only with larger maps.

Good morning again. The slowness I mentioned before is something that affects BtS entirely it seems. I did a fresh install yesterday and tried running History in The Making. It is playable but slow as hell to start up with too. Does anyone know if this has anything to do with Vista?

Defragmenting harddrive where the game is installed might make loading times faster.

OK, I'll try that now. I'll report back to you in an hour ;).

EDIT: It seems to have worked. Kind of baffled by it as I regularly defragment my HDD. Thanks zappara :).

anyone else having a problem with game crashing upon completion of the nited nations, not absolutely sure thats the cause but its in my capital and game crashes when my turn is just beginning.....seems it not only crashed but also corrupted the file so no log for now gonna try a new game and hopefully be able to get a log at that point then

(edit,next morning)
come to think of it its prolly not the un but something else in game causing that crash cause im quite sure i built the un a cpl games ago well i'm currently playing another game so ifn i crash again near same spot i'll get a log

Hmm, there seems to be no errors in the logs so at this time I don't know why it crashed.

Hey everybody, here my first post.

after reading carefully all the posts here, I am still facing a bug with non-appearing UI.

I use a "clean" BTS 3.17, RoM 2.51 MegaPack, Plus Patch 2.52.

All tries (incl. editing Bug.py as above) didn't help.

What happens? When I load RoM, I see the start screen without the selection field (Single, Multi etc.). The buttons are there, since I can press and something (which I don't see) happens, but I can't see any button. So I also cannot start a game.

Now the funny thing: All I describe happens, when I set the game language to 'English'
When I use 'German' instead, the words are missing (which is understandable), but the fields are present, which means, I can start a game without any text.

P.S. How to log? I read somewhere, but don't find it anymore

Thanks in advance

Oliver

God damn it! :mad: I played for 2 days a really fascinating game as Maya on huge Earth 28 civs map and everything run smoothly until 1860 AD when game crashes to desktop everytime. First I tried upgrading my system RAM from 2GB to 4GB, it helps in that way that everything runs smoother (both in windows and in the game) but the game still crashes always in the same turn. Second thing I tried was reducing graphic settings as Zappara mentioned, doesn't help, even with everyting on low. If you like Zappara I can provide savegame.

BTW: do I need 8 GB RAM to play huge and giant maps without crashes???

Have you tried the MAF fix discussed earlier using the /3GB? If not, then regardless of how much RAM you add to your system the game will not recognize it. If you have made this change, then I would next look at your video card. How much RAM do you have there - 128MB, 256MB or 512MB? The more you have, the better it will be.

Yeah, I looked at this thread about 3GB limit, but I'm using windows vista ultimate 64-bit so there is no such limit in 64-bit I suppose. My config: Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 6000+, 4 GB RAM 800 mhz, GF 8800 GT with 512 MB RAM. I would like so much to finish that game but tried everything and nothing works. It just crashes to desktop always in the same turn without any error message in game. Error message in windows is "program stopped working".

Did you enable Logging as posted in Post #603?

That way Zappara would have something to look at.

I am curious. If you are using a 64-bit operating system does Civ IV automatically know to use more than 2GB of RAM? I thought that 32-bit programs do not know how to use more memory.

I followed instructions from memory fix thread and yes, Vista 64 bit automatically allows BTS more than 2 GB (checkbox "allow more than 2 GB" in CFF explorer was checked). So I think this is not memory allocation error but something else. I enabled logging, played once again turn before crash and logs are ready. I attach them.

Good morning my friends, i would to know if it's normal or not that all Air Bomb Mission made by early fighter (i'm not arrived yet at modern era with jet figther ) missing the target, and it doesn't appear any information about the mission (failure or not).
After 5 attempts i never succeeded to destroy a farm or a mines :mad:

Bye :)

There is a typo in Assets/XML/Technologies/CIV4TechInfo.xml line 3083. FLAVOUR_MIILTARY should be FLAVOUR_MILITARY. As this is in TECH_UTOPIA I doubt many have noticed but it causes an assert in a debug build of the DLL.
