Very annoying hotseat bug

Danny explained the problem perfectly. I am not able to conduct diplomacy with my wife (the other hotseat player)!

Some small bugs can be looked over, but this is a disgustingly glaring problem! Did no one play hotseat in play testing?

my friend and i have been playing hot seat and discovered a problem....
myself as player 1....Peter the Great
my freind as player 2......Kubli Khan
and 8 AI civs
now the problem is....when it comes to "Trading anything" between player1 & player2!!!!!
player1 can trade with player2 anything (of course have learned the needed tech to do so) but here's the butt!!!!.....player2 to cannot trade anything back to player1!!!!!!!
in order to trade anything pplayer one makes a trade offer to player2....when player2 receives the trade offer from player1, player2 can only click on "make offer button, thus turning the button to retrack offer " . clicking on any other button cancels the deal...if i click on say- a tech or resource to trade with player1 in exchange for player1's offering, then the item appears in the "you offer" window for a second, then "they accept" changes to "they do not accept" and the whole deal is deal is ruined and has to be re- initiated again!
in other words- player1 can give player2 anything....butt player2 can not give anything to player1.....
I agree with the Col. i think somebody really, really Srewed the pooch on this one!!!!!!!!!!:goodjob:

I think it's time to summarize so that others can find out what to do with this problem.

1.) Player 1 can always give techs/resources and everything - except gold - to player 2.
2.) Player cannot give anything to player 1.

However player 3 and 4 can successfully trade everything but gold to each other. Thus you can work around this if you assign player 1 as a human player and player 2 as AI. Then you assign 3 and 4 etc as human depending on how many who play. When you enter the game choose retire so that player 1 will taken over by AI. Voila - you can play the others and trading works (except gold).

However if you save and load the game will then reassign the civilizations so that the humans are played by player 1 and 2. Then you cannot trade anything BUT gold. The reverse problem that is.

The conclusion is that you can play Hotseat and trade everything but gold. But you cannot save and turn the game off and then load it again.

Another soulution is if If you want to play team games. Then you can use the team game option and then you will automaticly share science etc with your teammate so that diplomacy isnt needed. However - you will still not be able to trade resources.

To fix the rearanging players when you load a game you could have player 1 have a city and build nothing but (defensive) troops... but now we're getting into complicated, timeconsuming workarounds :/

my inlaws are having this problem too. one can trade to another, but not vice versa. this is a showstopping defect.

Yep, this bug is nasty.
I just discovered when I played a nice Hotseat game with brother.

This bug is unbeliveably annoying.
It almost destroys Hotseat MP experience (does it exist in PBEM too?)

Firaxis, this requires a hotfix, not a patch!!!

Just joined the forum looking for a solution to this exact problem. Does anyone know of a fix or patch?

Exactly the same problem for me and my wife - she can trade me, but I can't trade to her...

Firaxis - get us a fix for this!!!

First link in my sig.

Thank you - I went there and wrote a nice note about how we need a fix for this problem.

cubsaver, have you installed the latest patch?

Well, I tried dowloading and installing patch 1.61 - but it keeps telling me all kinds of things about the Chinese leader and Utopia, and refusing to load anything but Random games so I uninstalled it and went back to the Original no-patched game.

I strongly suggest you try again to patch your game. This issue, and countless others, have been fixed in the patch.

It's fixed. Even the annoying Hot-Seat Bug, that's been driving me and my wife furious...:gripe: :wallbash:

I deleted anything [civ4] on my PC and then re-installed the game and instead of unzipping and installing the .zipfile from [civ4] Official Site, I let the GAME update through the Update Link IN-GAME - that worked, without having to shut down my firewall - I just instructed my firewall to allow the download at that time.

Then I test played Hot-Seat starting in Renaisance - to be able to do all the :traderoute: - worked just fine, and no "incorrect-messages" - everything loaded just fine.:woohoo:

:thanx: for helping out - it pushed me in the right direction. :worship:
