Very big problem with RoM New dawn

Hey I am sorry for not getting back to you. I got it to work thank you so much. This version is much better then what I had before and is smoother! more options ETC!. Question: What is the best seting to play on in terms of dificulty, map size, and game length.I usually enjoy a longer game on the biggest map possible. I dont want to get deep into a game and it crashes. I did normal speed on Noble on a Giant map and I pretty much have the game won very early which is boring. I want to play in the future era and have a challenge. Can the game on a giant map sustain this?

Again thank you for your guidance and taking the time to help me

It doesn't matter very much map size or gamespeed. But I suggest you play with revolution ON, and under BUG settings use Flexible Difficulty, Flexible AI and difficulty check every 10 turns. Have fun! :)

@45: It should be nice to add the Flexible difficulty right from the game creation. A checkbox which set flex diff for human and AI with no up and down limit with checks every 10 or 20.

I'll set default 10 turns check in my next commit but I prefer to keep the option under BUG settings. We're trying to reduce options in the start menu.

Would it be possible to make the handicap editable when set up a new game, just as the player can set up his own? I'm okay without it, but I guess some hardcore-masochist-strategist players would like to set the AI to settler from game start.
Maybe it would be useful for scenarios too.

Everything is possible but since most people don't understand how handicap works, there's no reason to do it. When I have time I'll try to explain how it works.

Hehe... I can imagine some bug reports:
Spoiler :
"I have set the AI's to deity, but they don't play like a god but perform rather poorly "

Solution:

"Dear user, please turn off your computer and try to turn on your brain. Thank you."

It's no biggie.
After all, if someone really wants to edit it, there is the xml file.

Well, of course XML can be edited if people know what they're doing.
In plain BTS and in past versions of AND you can only change YOUR handicap level while AI always play on "noble". This is because what happens when you change your level is that AI gets some help/handicap if YOUR level respectively gets harder/easier. So in theory there would be no need to change AI handicap. In practice, we've seen it helps keeping the game balanced, if coded properly. What happens with Flexible AI is that if AI falls behind too much, it decreases its handicap (i.e. it goes down from Noble to Warlord for example); problem is that if AI handicap decreases, that would actually mean that game becomes harder for that AI civ. For example, at Noble human player research is 100 and AI is 100 too (actual numbers are different but you get the idea); if human goes up to Prince human research becomes 110 but also AI research goes down to 90. So if AI is doing pretty well and you increase its handicap from Noble to Prince, you're actually helping that AI because research goes down from 100 to 90. What I've done some revisions ago was to invert this scaling in the dll so that if you don't use flexible AI and AI is always on Noble, handicap works as in plain BTS; but if you use Flexible AI, going up one level for AI makes it really harder for AI and not easier as XML files would do.
That's pretty much it, I hope I've been clear in my explanation. :)

I set both the computer and me to Flexiable. of course I end up in diety. It presents with the most amazing CIV experience. I have ever had thank you 45°38'N-13°47'E

CI have one more question. I am the year 1525 (or around there) and I cannot communicate with every civ. Even one in particular that is willing to captulvate. The list is long with the civs I have discovered so it maybe to full and not allowing me to communicate with the sivs with the lowest scores. I am meeting new civs ETC and they will also not show on the score list. Is there another way of contacting these civs desides clicking on there kingdom on the score list?

Of course! Just open the diplomatic advisor and right click on a leader.
