Dig Dug is seven years off and a very different type of game. But both Dig Dug and the game I asked about had versions for "the best-selling single personal computer model of all time", according to Wikipedia anyway.
Alrighty! One last hint before I go to bed. Some of you probably figured out that I cropped that first shot to hide the fact that it is merely an in-game automap, and not normal gameplay.
But if that wasn't enough, here's a shot of the kind of stuff you'd usually see.
I was thinking Bard's Tale, too, but the interface doesn't quite look like it. Besides, there is an automap feature in the Bard's Tale games? Arrrgh...
Yehes! Dragon Wars is the answer, and you guys followed the path right to it. The same folks made Wasteland and the Bard's Tales, and Dragon Wars was indeed one of their first games to have an automap.
Thanks and a belated welcome to the Video Game Quiz crowd!
Here's one of the first RPGs i have played. Took me forever to get it to run back when it came out, and it wasn't until DOSBox that i could actually watch the intro and listen to the music!
