I know, it says so in the first post :) If your skills improve drasticly with every unit, like in the case of SoG, I think we can expect some sweet units :D

OK, one technical suggestion, if you don`t mind ;), make the shadows a bit lighter, it looks like it`s sunset in the preview :)

heheheh.
imagine:
"damn computer, render, dammit!"
*beeeooooo* (shuts down)
"hmmm..... ah ha!" *picks up axe* "NOW! will you work?"
*dee dee da-do* (windows turn-on thingy theme)

hikaro does.
orthanc and aaglo use povray methinks.

i think its grainy cos its a low poly model

Right, PovRay, sorry. Well, its nice grainy :)

OT but I have to share it with someone, just saw preview screenshots of WH online, they are realy, realy crappy... horrible... and awful. And they suck. Everything looks like it was made 5 or 6 years ago... I suppose they are so early in production that everything loooks crappy, horrible, awful, and they suck, but then they shouldn`t post anything, cos this is scaring people! And they suck!!! Buncha dope-heads with, are those ogres, those better not be ogres, in some shabby looking cities, and.. and they suck! There, I`m done. Sorry.

hehehehehe!

i've never actualy seen the screenies but i'll believe you there.
its good to rant an all :)

and lets just say that its supposed to be grainy :mischief:

Yeah, you know, when I see preview shots of Oblivion (RPG), which is to be released sometime soon, or the Warhammer: Mark of Chaos (RTS) which is to be released... when its done, and say Final Fantasy XI (online RPG) which is already old :), but I still saw the previews, and then I see something like this (phoey) it makes me wonder.. I mean its supposed to come out this or the next year! And it looks like, I dunno, Tetris! Look at me, all foamed up... like a certain "rodent" we know ;)

i actually bought FF11 but cant play it due to the fact that it costs money!
i mean, i already paid for the game and now they want me to pay to play it?!
at least make a non-online version or something.. jeeze...

Quinzy: Here's a few suggestions:

Okay, your lighting setup looks okay... did you use the sky settings I listed in the Bryce tutorial I made OR if you want, I could upload my sky presets....

Also about the grainyness, what is your render settings at? Are you using normal or superfine antialiasing (it's under the document setup)? Best to use the superfine, even though it slows rendering down, due to the fact that superfine antialiasing will even render small details, where normal won't (if some of you noticed that on some of Wyrmshadow's units, narrow parts would be missing parts from the middle, that's because he uses normal AA... I found this out when he sent me the soldier dude and I opened it in Bryce and checked the settings he used).

Edit: there is a way to play Everquest and other MMOs ofline... But it requires that you have at least two computers, one of which is set up as a dedicated server, so that your "client" computer is fooled into thinking it's online... I'd have to track down one of my old Navy buddies who was a Networking tech for the exact details. I want to get FF XI (and yes, I'm willing to pay the measly $13 a month to play it), but my internet is via a wirless PCMICA card, which only works on my crappy obsolete laptop (which is the only computer I own that has a PCMICA slot), therefore I can't play it for the reason that I don't have internet access on either of my two computers that are good enough to run the game.

1. i use superfine, yes.
2. i tried to get the lighting as best i could as stated in your tutorial.

Okay, then the grainyness is probably caused by the textures you used... or the mesh itself. As I said, the lighting looks fine. Planning on adding Civ colors to the unit?
