Virtual Reality. Is it really happening?

Have you tried it?

Like, what if we are in virtual reality right now and didn’t know it. That would be like, totally Cartesian, man. :smoke:

If the simulation is good enough i would have not problem with it.

However being in Google Earht VR it is like being in a postapocalyptic world which is melting. More Dalinean than Cartesian i would say.

The simulation could be very good, and yet your body would still reach muscle atrophy after a while even if fed with tubes and such.

But if such VR could simulate perfectly all senses and all our perceptions would be
indistinguishable of the real ones would it really matter that your body get atrophied if the virtual world is much more satifactory than the real one? Red pill or blue pill?

It would suck when a power failure hits, though, cause then the hero will realize he is a blob :wow:

He would think it was only a nightmare.

He would think it was only a nightmare.

It is only a nightmare if it happens to end at some time :D What if in his agony the blob moves about, and causes the VR kit to be disconnected? Now he is a blob in a basement with terrible graphics, and tube things nearing to feed him that look nothing like the awesome bodies he and others around him had back in VR :(

A way yo avoid such issues would be to discard the body and leave only the intubated head in a glass jar. It would be more economical too not having to feed the whole body. Typical win-win situation.

With such reactionary mentallity the jar VR utopy will never become true. :nono:

What is the point of continuing any existence good or bad, if it is only to prolong a lie? I realize that is an argument against God.

It still seems like a human thought process that states humans can do a better job at existence. Virtual reality is an escape from reality even if it is a simulated nonstop nightmare. If you're not going to have a body, there is really no way to actually have a system shutdown or a brain overload.

The matrix is the same story as Adam. Eat the fruit and leave your "virtual" reality.

That is a brilliant film kyriakos, and I applaud its posting.

I'd get the PS4 VR if it wasn't so pricey. Looks fun though.

I think VR will get much cheaper soon. The technology may be not that mature yet but it is maturing quickly.
