Vista Service Pack 2 Audio Conflicts

I have a HP dv6308nr laptop with windows vista. I had to reload the harddrive and get all the updates. I got service Pack 1 then the second service pack. However my volume icon in the lower right says "No audio output device is installed". That's bullcrap because my audio worked fine before downloading Vista Service Pack 2.
Can anyone help me? I have searched Microsoft's databases but have found no solution to my problem.
It is quite agrivating and I don't want to wipe the harddrive again.
Any help is appreciated.

You could try reinstalling your audio drivers. Look on HP's site for the ones for your laptop.
